The Crystal Lake Park District is looking for a hands-on, team-oriented <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Athletic Field Maintenance Assistant</span> to support the maintenance and operation of our premier athletic facilities.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Work Schedule:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tuesday–Thursday: 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM</li>\n<li>Saturday &amp; Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM</li>\n</ul>\n<p>This role requires flexibility based on field use and weather conditions, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">What You’ll Do</span></span></p>\n<p>You’ll play a key role in keeping our fields game-ready and looking their best:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist in maintaining and setting up baseball and softball fields at<br>Lippold Park and Veterans Acres.</li>\n<li>Drag, line, groom, and repair infields, mounds, and home plates.</li>\n<li>Support turf care including mowing, trimming, fertilizing, and irrigation.</li>\n<li>Help coordinate daily work schedules and assist with training part-time staff.</li>\n<li>Operate and maintain equipment such as mowers, utility vehicles, and infield groomers.</li>\n<li>Assist with field lighting setup and maintenance.</li>\n<li>Monitor contracted work to ensure quality standards are met.</li>\n<li>Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and facilities.</li>\n<li>Pitch in with snow and ice removal during winter months.</li>\n<li>Keep tools, equipment, and workspaces organized and in top condition.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">What We’re Looking For</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Education &amp; Experience</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma or equivalent required.</li>\n<li>At least 1 year of experience in groundskeeping, field maintenance, or similar work preferred.</li>\n<li>Baseball/softball field prep experience is a big plus.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Certifications (or willingness to obtain)</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Illinois Pesticide Operator’s License</li>\n<li>CPR/AED Certification</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Skills &amp; Strengths</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of field setup, turf care, irrigation, and basic equipment maintenance.</li>\n<li>Ability to safely operate tools and machinery.</li>\n<li>Strong teamwork and communication skills.</li>\n<li>Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.</li>\n<li>Solid time management and attention to detail.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; text-decoration: underline\">Physical &amp; Work Environment</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work outdoors in all kinds of weather—sun, rain, heat, and even snow.</li>\n<li>Perform physical labor including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, and standing for extended periods.</li>\n<li>Exposure to equipment noise, fertilizers, and maintenance materials.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">The Crystal Lake Park District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
