To learn more about what we offer, please refer to UW’s <a href=\"https://www.uwyo.edu/hr/_files/docs/employee-benefits/benefit-summary.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Benefits Summary</a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n</div>\n<p><b>JOB TITLE:&nbsp;</b>&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Animal Care and Facility Manager – Science Institute &nbsp;</p>\n<p><b>JOB PURPOSE:&nbsp;</b>&nbsp;&nbsp;Oversee security and facility operations, and coordinate the care, feeding, handling, and humane euthanasia of research animals.</p>\n<p><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</b>&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Manage operations of a moderate-sized vivarium (mouse, amphibian, fish) including daily health checks; cage/tank changing and washing; animal, facility and personnel safety and proper handling of biohazardous waste.</li>\n <li>Maintain&nbsp;standard operating procedures&nbsp;for animal care&nbsp;in compliance with regulatory requirements and university policies,&nbsp;and in&nbsp;familiarity with the needs of&nbsp;faculty investigators.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Purchase animal care supplies and&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;vivarium&nbsp;budget&nbsp;while&nbsp;forecasting expenses, monitoring expenditures,&nbsp;and&nbsp;identifying&nbsp;cost-saving opportunities.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Recruit, train,&nbsp;supervise&nbsp;and assess the performance of staff. Provide orientation and training for faculty and student facility users in proper animal care, handling and restraint, as needed. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, monitoring publications and establishing networks.</li>\n <li>Coordinate and consult with attending veterinarian. Develop a positive and productive working relationship with veterinarian and institutional care and use committee.</li>\n <li>Provide data collection and&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;up-to-date records in compliance with local,&nbsp;state&nbsp;and federal statutes and regulations (incl.&nbsp;IACUC,&nbsp;OLAW,&nbsp;NIH).&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Supervise the procurement, inventory management and quality control of animals, supplies and equipment.
