This role involves examining patients, cleaning teeth, and educating patients on oral hygiene practices.<br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Main Responsibilities</span></span></em></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Patient Care and Assessments </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct thorough oral health assessments, including reviewing patient health history and performing initial evaluations. </li>\n<li>Perform dental procedures in accordance with patient treatment plan including cleanings and application of preventative materials. </li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Diagnostic Support and Treatment Planning</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Take dental radiographs (X-rays) to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. </li>\n<li>Identify and record any oral health concerns, such as gingival disease or cavities. </li>\n<li>Collaborate with the dentist to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. </li>\n<li>Perform periodontal therapy and provide maintenance care for patients with gum disease. </li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Oral Health Education </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations. </li>\n<li>Provide personalized oral care instructions based on individual patient needs and treatment plans. </li>\n<li>Promote preventive care and the importance of regular dental visits. </li>\n</ul>\n<p> <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Exam Room Preparation</span> </p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and operatory following dental and clinical infection control procedures.</li>\n<li>Prepare instruments, materials, and equipment needed for upcoming patient visits.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Dental Record Maintenance </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chart and lock notes within timely manner in accordance with Finger Lakes Community Health policies and procedures.</li>\n<li>Address telephone encounters and actions in the electronic health record system in accordance with Finger Lakes Community Health policies and procedures.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Other Duties</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span><br></span></p>\n<p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Education &amp; Qualifications:</span></span></em></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Education</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma or equivalent is required.</li>\n<li>Associate or bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene is preferred.</li>\n<li>Certification or diploma from a NYS qualifying or ADA accredited dental hygiene program.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>3+ years in a healthcare or customer service setting, functioning at an independent level with solid foundation of role knowledge preferred.</li>\n<li>A valid government-issued photo identification document is required.</li>\n<li>Current CPR certification through a HRSA accepted agency is required (can be provided upon employment).</li>\n<li>A current, unrestricted, NYS Dental Hygienist license is required.</li>\n<li>Completion of continuing education in accordance to NYS licensing renewal and privileging requirements.</li>\n<li>Proficient in navigating and updating electronic health records while maintaining data accuracy.</li>\n<li>Possesses comprehensive knowledge of dental anatomy, preventive oral care, and infection control procedures, applying this expertise to deliver high-quality patient care and education.</li>\n<li>Uses interpersonal skills in building relationships across departments.</li>\n<li>Uses judgement to adapt communication style to various audiences and situations.</li>\n<li>Excels in ensuring precision in documentation and processes.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><br></span></em></p>\n<p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Requirements:</span></span></em></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Sitting/Standing:</span> Prolonged sitting with occasional standing or walking.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Computer Use: </span>Frequent typing and prolonged screen time.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Moderate Lifting:</span> Regularly lifting or carrying items weighing between 15-40 pounds.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Visual:</span> Clear vision for reading and inspections.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Hearing Clarity:</span> Ability to hear conversations in person or in virtual communications.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Noise Sensitivity:</span> Work may require filtering background noise to focus on speech or signals.</li>\n<li>OSHA Level 1</li>\n</ul>",
