    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<figure class=\"table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>The Registered Nurse - ASC OR/ARD is responsible for professional nursing care of the surgical or endoscopic patient and to achieve total patient centered care through use of the nursing process.<br/><br/><strong>Job Relationships</strong><br/>Reports to the Nurse Manager-Operative Services<br/><br/><strong>Principal Responsibilities</strong><br/>Nurses will be cross-trained to work other areas in the facility utilizing those nursing skills and techniques necessary to meet the patients' needs and provide quality care.&nbsp; Annual competencies for specific working area must be completed within designated month.<br/>ADMISSION - Greet patient and instruct in changing into appropriate attire.&nbsp; Complete pre-operative assessment, document on appropriate chart forms and administer pre-op orders (i.e. medications, IV's).&nbsp; Provide pre-operative teaching to patients and significant others.&nbsp; Consult with other members of the health care team members regarding patient care.<br/>POST-ANESTHESIA CARE NURSE - Assess and monitor the patient during Phase I Recovery.&nbsp; Complete applicable records.&nbsp; Administer medications as ordered.&nbsp; Ready the carts and restock supplies as needed.&nbsp; Transfer patient to Phase II Recovery when sufficiently recovered from anesthesia following the protocol.<br/>DISCHARGE - Assess and monitor the patient during Phase II Recovery.&nbsp; Administer medications as ordered.&nbsp; Complete necessary chart forms.&nbsp; Assist patient in preparing for discharge and give home instructions with patient education materials.&nbsp; Discharge the patient per orders of the surgeon to a responsible person, following the guidelines as written in the Policy and Procedure Manual.<br/>Maintain the facility in a neat and orderly manner at all times.<br/>Restock supplies as indicated daily.<br/>Check crash cart, defibrillator and medications daily, see that all equipment is present and in working order.<br/>Complete post-op phone calls as needed.<br/>Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.<br/>Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training &amp; accomplishments as required per policy.<br/>Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.<br/>Perform other job duties as assigned.<br/><br/><strong>Education/Experience</strong><br/>Graduate of accredited school of nursing.<br/>Three to five (3-5) years of comparable nursing experience preferred.<br/><br/><strong>Licenses/Certificates</strong><br/>Licensure as an RN in the State of Illinois.&nbsp;<br/>PALS certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within six months of employment.<br/>ACLS certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within six months of employment.<br/>CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire<br/><br/><strong>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</strong><br/>Must have the ability to control emotions and maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment.<br/>Must be able to adjust to various personalities and situations.<br/>Must maintain professional behavior.<br/>Must possess manual dexterity to handle equipment and appliances.<br/>Must have the ability to control emotions and maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment.<br/>Must be capable of stooping, bending and lifting.<br/>Must be able to stand and walk for long periods.<br/>Must appear well groomed.<br/><br/><strong>Working Environment</strong><br/>Conditions include exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue and contagious diseases and/or potentially hazardous materials.<br/>Occasional heavy lifting required.<br/><br/><strong>PHI/Privacy Level</strong><br/>HIPAA1</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>",
