Miami Air is currently seeking a highly motivated and personable individual to join the company as a Technical Representative to p rovide technical assistance, guidance and training support to the Maintenance department. Assist with the technical acceptance of leased aircraft and oversight of outsourced heavy maintenance and modification programs. Fill in as maintenance foreman or maintenance control as necessary. Also, ensure safe, compliant, economical and efficient accomplishment of all maintenance functions assigned him. Perform assigned work in accordance with manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, applicable Maintenance Program, GMM, MEL/CDL, company policies and procedures, industry standard, etc. and the directions provided by the Maintenance Controller. These requirements to include, but may not be limited to, the routine and non-routine elements of checks and inspections, log book discrepancy and deferred item required actions, special projects, modification orders, etc. Functions & Responsibilities Perform and accomplish all work encountered and assigned in accordance with the applicable approved data, by the government, company policies and procedures and industry standard. Manage the assigned special project, check/inspection, modification, etc. to provide necessary support to Vendor and ensure the efficiency, integrity of effort and compliance of all maintenance action accomplishments to FARs, GMM, Maintenance Program and company policies and procedures for Miami Air. Demonstrate vigilance in oversight of part and material costs, man-hour estimates verse those actually expended and any cost and mark up of vendor’s subcontracted services. Report to Maintenance Control while performing Flight Mechanic duties and when working heavy maintenance report to the Maintenance Manager / Maintenance Foreman. Properly document and record all maintenance actions in accordance with GMM, MEL/CDL, CFRs and company policies and procedures. Indicate responsibility for work performed by signature and/or sign off policy. In circumstances where a task or item of work is not completed prior to tour of duty ending use short signing to account for that portion of work accomplished. Responsible for the safe, proper and timely execution of scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance requirements as assigned by the Maintenance Manager/Maintenance Foreman. Ensure the vendor’s use of approved data, tooling, test equipment and materials during the accomplishment of all maintenance efforts and operations during his assignment. Exercise his administrative and technical abilities in concert with the authority delegated as a Miami Air Tech Representative to ensure on time completions of all tasks assigned in a same safe, efficient and compliant manner to the best of his abilities. Immediately report to the Maintenance Controller documented discrepancies as well as any recognized and/or perceived non-airworthy, unsafe or non-conforming condition discovered. Use, understand, know and promote the consistent ongoing use of the Miami Air General Maintenance Manual, the specific aircraft Maintenance Manual, the specific aircraft Maintenance Programs and company policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of all of the vendor’s maintenance efforts and activities. Advise the Maintenance Manager / Maintenance Foreman of aircraft status on a routine basis. Inform the Maintenance Manager / Maintenance Foreman of any changes in schedule, special needs such as tooling, equipment, parts and/or engineering. Update the Manager by the use of “Estimated Time of Completion” (ETC) time and date and/or the use of an “Advise Time” (the time when a ETC will be more appropriate to give). The use of ETC times and Advise Times should also be extended to specific critical path items relative to work flow and/or completion time, any irregularities, delays, accidents, incidents and/or or part cannibalization. Ensure all drop shipped parts and materials are properly received, Inspected and verified as airworthy, legal and applicable. Ensure parts are returned. Maintain awareness of costs, expenses and time constraints for responsible areas of assignment. Make and encourage suggestions to improve costs, efficiency and reliability. Present a clean and professional appearance and business like deportment on behalf of Miami Air by wearing the proper uniform. Provide good written daily reports as well as any verbal updates to the Maintenance Manager / Maintenance Foreman. Review all associated maintenance paperwork for completion, compliance with and conformance to Miami Air GMM and Maintenance Program requirements. Ensure all data used on an aircraft, engine, appliance and/or component when testing, inspecting, correcting discrepancies and/or accomplishing a repair is approved and current. When using calibrated tooling or test equipment on an aircraft, engine, appliance and/or component ensure the item has been calibrated and is current prior to its use, if the item has been dropped or mishandled, do not use until repair and/or re-calibration has been accomplished and appropriately documented. Ensures that all phases of work undertaken and/or accomplished is being done with all applicable approved data, tooling, appropriate and current forms. Ensures completion of the applicable paperwork as detailed in the GMM, Maintenance Program and/or appropriate policies and procedures. Ensures all maintenance performed is clearly and appropriately documented. Effect paperwork corrections on the spot (assigned location) with the applicable vendor to enhance package integrity and lessen lead time for such corrections if accomplishment is necessary from Miami Air’s Main Base of Operations. Supervise and coordination all activities relative to maintenance while serving as the Tech Representative of Miami Air. It is the Tech Representative’s responsibility for integrity and compliance to ensure a safe and compliant aircraft, up to and including the final Airworthiness Release for the subject aircraft from the specific maintenance assignment. Maintain secure and protect the property and reputation of the company in a professional manner. Perform any additional duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager/Maintenance Foreman. Requirements & Qualifications A&P License or equivalent. Associate's degree, technical/vocational certificate, or equivalent 3 year of experience in a position as a licensed A&P Technician Must have ability to work safely, efficiently, effectively, and independently. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills. Must possess legible handwriting to complete required paperwork. Knowledge of or experience in working with a GMM, Maintenance Programs and FARs. Must be detailed and precise in all technical work with safety in mind Must be computer literate and skilled in using e-mail communication. Able to explain and communicate clearly company’s policies and procedures and technical data to contractors who works on Company aircraft. Promote and follow workplace safety. Work Environment: Able perform all duties under sometimes stressful conditions—such as variable weather conditions or environmental conditions, including jet engine fumes, dust, vehicle emissions and jet engine noise. Must be able to bend, stoop and crawl in tight, restricted spaces; push, pull, lift and hold aircraft parts and components weighing up to 60 pounds; move and climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding weighing up to 100 lbs; and push out and/or tow aircraft, which involves driving vehicles weighing up to two tons. Work with color-coded wiring and other components, requiring the ability to differentiate colors. Must be able to read and interpret printed or computerized maintenance manuals. The FAA requires FBI fingerprinting for all applicants being considered for this position. If you have been convicted of a criminal misdemeanor or felony within the last five years you are not eligible for the position due to Canadian Immigration Regulations. If the conviction was between the last five to ten years or if there is more than one conviction, then you must complete the Canadian Criminal Rehabilitation process prior to being considered for the position.
