The Iñupiaq way of life is woven into our curriculum, programs, activities, and daily interactions within Ilisagvik College and our community partners. </span></em></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">SUMMARY OF POSITION:</span></span></p>\n<p>The Instructor/Assistant Professor of the Allied Health develops and teaches science courses within the Academic Division, while also overseeing curriculum, updating instructional materials, and maintaining course outlines and syllabi for all Allied Health Program courses.</p>\n<p><span><br></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develops and teaches community college courses in Allied Health. </li>\n<li>Exercises leadership and initiative in working with local, state, and federal health agencies to identify training needs.</li>\n<li>Develops a regular offering of Allied Health courses and programs to meet these needs and identifies instructors to offer the courses.</li>\n<li>Mentors and supports the division’s adjunct faculty.</li>\n<li>Actively assists students to become successful and provides individual assistance.</li>\n<li>Individualizes approach to instruction to accommodate students’ learning styles and abilities.</li>\n<li>Engages in the preparation of materials and the delivery of courses in distance delivery modes.</li>\n<li>Participates in the development of curriculum, prepares and maintains updated instructional materials, course outlines, and syllabi. Completes reports and presentations as needed.</li>\n<li>Serves as student academic advisor.</li>\n<li>Evaluates student performance and submits appropriate grades and reports.</li>\n<li>Monitors degree and certificate programs and works with other faculty to make changes as appropriate.</li>\n<li>Develops new and nurtures existing partnerships associated with the Allied Health program.</li>\n<li>Maintains office hours and actively participates in College and community service activities including serving on committees and task forces, participating in College activities, curriculum planning, professional development, and other faculty-related activities.</li>\n<li>Administers program grants as applicable.</li>\n<li>Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.</li>\n<li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills.</li>\n<li>Ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment.</li>\n<li>Ability to travel periodically, including flying in small aircraft to remote locations with limited amenities.</li>\n<li>Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.</li>\n<li>Demonstrated professional community college teaching experience.</li>\n<li>Demonstrated successful program development experience.</li>\n<li>Demonstrated teaching experience with distance delivery.</li>\n<li>Demonstrated rural Alaska work experience.</li>\n<li>Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.</li>\n<li>Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.</li>\n<li>Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.</li>\n<li>Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline\">EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Required]:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Master’s degree in Human Services, Behavioral Science, Health Information Management, or other related Allied Health discipline.</li>\n<li>Demonstrated professional teaching experience.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]</span></span>:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Doctorate degree in Human Services, Behavioral Science, or related Allied Health discipline.<br></li>\n<li>Valid driver’s license.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: </span></span><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif\">The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
