    "description_html": "<p><u><strong>Position &nbsp;&nbsp;Summary</strong></u></p><p>One component of the Institute &nbsp;&nbsp;of Spiritual Health and Wellness is to oversee the CPE (Clinical Pastoral &nbsp;&nbsp;Education) program for Residents and Interns at Northside Hospital—Atlanta &nbsp;&nbsp;and Northside Hospital—Gwinnett. In those settings they will serve alongside &nbsp;&nbsp;staff chaplains providing pastoral and spiritual care to patients, families, &nbsp;&nbsp;and staff. This is an extension of CHRIS 180’s mission to heal children, &nbsp;&nbsp;strengthen families and build community. The Chaplain Intern works at Northside Hospital, Inc. to provide &nbsp;&nbsp;emotional and spiritual care to the patients, families, and staff within the &nbsp;&nbsp;healthcare system. Under the supervision of the director of the Institute, a &nbsp;&nbsp;Certified Educator or a Certified Educator Candidate will work to help &nbsp;&nbsp;patients, families and staff find the spiritual path that will help lead to &nbsp;&nbsp;their healing. Participate with interdisciplinary staff at their assigned &nbsp;&nbsp;hospital to provide wholistic care conducive to helping individuals find &nbsp;&nbsp;their spiritual path without imposing one’s own perspectives. Provides &nbsp;&nbsp;spiritual care throughout the day, during evening and throughout the &nbsp;&nbsp;overnight shift according to a negotiated schedule. That care is provided &nbsp;&nbsp;through conversation, prayer, rituals, and presence depending on the needs of &nbsp;&nbsp;the patient.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><u><strong>Role and Responsibilities</strong></u></p><p>1. Commits to working in &nbsp;&nbsp;the area of spiritual care with an openness to all forms of spirituality and &nbsp;&nbsp;a willingness to learn about spiritual faith or practices with which they are &nbsp;&nbsp;unfamiliar.</p><p>2. Works with the staff &nbsp;&nbsp;chaplains and resident chaplains of Northside Hospital, Inc. to build &nbsp;&nbsp;supportive relationships with patients, families and staff within the &nbsp;&nbsp;healthcare system.</p><p>3. Will be available, &nbsp;&nbsp;under supervision, to provide short-term spiritual care to people in moral or &nbsp;&nbsp;spiritual distress, experiencing physical or emotional trauma</p><p>4. Provides spiritual care &nbsp;&nbsp;services to patients and families which might involve providing rituals and &nbsp;&nbsp;services in response to community events or traumas.&nbsp;</p><p>5. Participates, as &nbsp;&nbsp;needed, in on call rotation with all CPE students and occasionally staff &nbsp;&nbsp;chaplains at a Northside Hospital location.</p><p>6. Assists in carrying out &nbsp;&nbsp;the mission and values of CHRIS 180 while upholding the standards of &nbsp;&nbsp;excellence of Northside Hospital, Inc.</p><p>7. Practices proper safety &nbsp;&nbsp;techniques in accordance with CHRIS 180’s policies and procedures.&nbsp;</p><p>8. Complies with the &nbsp;&nbsp;Association of Professional Chaplains’ Common Standards for Professional &nbsp;&nbsp;Chaplaincy as well as the Common Code of Ethics for Chaplains, Counselors and &nbsp;&nbsp;Pastoral Educators and the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education’s Code &nbsp;&nbsp;of Professional Ethics for ACPE Members.&nbsp;</p><p>9. The grid below identifies the &nbsp;&nbsp;age group(s) of patients served, the nature of services provided and the &nbsp;&nbsp;skills necessary to provide the care appropriate for the ages of the patients served by this position.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Ages of Individual Served (Child/Adolescent/Adult/Geriatric)- Spiritual Assessments &amp; Care/Treatment</strong></p><p><br></p><p><u><strong>KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR &nbsp;&nbsp;CERTIFICATION REQUIRED</strong></u></p><p>1. Some training in theological reflection; enough to speak about &nbsp;&nbsp;spiritual and theological issues with passion and cognitive &nbsp;&nbsp;understanding.&nbsp;</p><p>2. In good standing with one’s ecclesiastical/denominational/spiritual &nbsp;&nbsp;community.</p><p>3. Open, flexible, sensitive to cultural and religious diversity.</p><p>4.
