The Cottage Assistant’s primary purpose is to assist and support the Cottage Parents as they care for children. The Cottage Assistant will be required, at times, to care for groups of children while the Cottage Parents are not present. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #383838; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-weight: bold\">Responsibilities</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Cottage Upkeep</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Train children how to properly care for their rooms and their Cottages (chores)</span></li>\n<li>Help with laundry, deep cleans, and other needs of Cottage upkeep</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Maintain playground cleanliness</span></li>\n<li>Prepare meals as needed</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Caring for the Children</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Nurturing</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Train the children in both life skills and spiritual growth</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Help the children maintain good hygiene</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Monitor the children’s clothing needs</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Invest in relationships with the children</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Dedicate time to studying for and giving daily devotions</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Take the children to church and teach them to be involved in their church</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Drive children to and occasionally schedule dentist and doctor appointments and all other appointments</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Training</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Teach the children life skills and responsibilities</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Academics</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Ensure children complete homework and assist them when needed</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Manage school projects</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Check grading software daily</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Wash school uniforms throughout the week</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Relationships</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Spend quality time</span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Mentoring</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Plan activities</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Create a family environment in the cottages</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Cover for Cottage Parents on their days off</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Outside events</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Attend Christmas events</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> Help with chaperoning or the planning of Hope activities</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Driving children to doctor appointments, youth activities, etc.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Other:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Staff members hired by Hope Children’s Home must be dedicated to maintaining and instilling Christian values in the children they care for.  All Hope Children’s Home employees must be born-again Christians and agree with our <a href=\"https://www.hopechildrenshome.org/ministry-openings/#missionstatement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mission Statement</a>, <a href=\"https://www.hopechildrenshome.org/ministry-openings/#doctrinalbeliefs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Core Values</a>, and <a href=\"https://www.hopechildrenshome.org/ministry-openings/#staffcommitments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Doctrinal Statements</a>. Additionally, staff members are hired based on professional and educational credentials, demonstrated experience, and Christian testimony.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #555555; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 13px\">Hope Children's Home is generally exempt from the provisions of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which makes illegal discrimination in employment based on religion.
