This 116-year-old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of over $70 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15-day annual summer Fair which averages more than 700,000 people annually, Playland amusement park which welcomes 400,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, and a busy year-round portfolio of events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events.  In total we bring over 2 million people through the site each year. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. The Tradesperson II - Mechanic will work under the direction of the Manager, Maintenance & Facilities. The position will operate vehicles and tools/equipment in compliance with all health and safety requirements as determined by WorkSafeBC, and all other applicable legislation and company policies. WHMIS, Lock Out, Zoom Boom, and Fall Arrest training will be provided on an as needed basis.</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Why join our Team?</strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Exhilarating and fun-loving culture</li>\n <li>Flexible work environment</li>\n <li>Be a part of the growth of one of Vancouver’s most iconic institutions</li>\n <li>Join a diverse, passionate, and enthusiastic team</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>What will you do this year?</strong></p>\n<p>In your role as a <strong>Tradesperson II - Millwright</strong>, your primary accountabilities will be to:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Rebuild and/or repair of rides & attractions as specified.</li>\n <li>Perform accurate and timely ride inspections.</li>\n <li>Maintain all required service records and logs.</li>\n <li>Make recommendations for improvements, modification, upgrades and report findings to Supervisor on a timely basis.</li>\n <li>Assist with major overhauls, modifications and alterations as required.</li>\n <li>Ensure the safe operation of each work area and each work project.</li>\n <li>Participate and lead safety related discussion in Toolbox Talks meetings.</li>\n <li>Meet all required training obligations, including attendance, active participation, exam writing and meeting any other certification required. </li>\n <li>Provide direction to junior technicians as required.</li>\n <li>Assist with general cleaning, inspection and reassemble equipment as needed.</li>\n <li>Responsible for assisting with daily preventative maintenance program.</li>\n <li>Install new equipment.</li>\n <li>Maintain a safe and clean working environment.</li>\n <li>Safely operate mobile equipment (forklifts, scissor lifts, zoom booms). </li>\n <li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>What else?</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must have successful completion of Grade 12.</li>\n <li>Successful completion of post-Secondary training to a Trades Qualification (TQ) or equivalent industry experience.</li>\n <li>Mechanic or Millwright license preferred.</li>\n <li>Valid British Columbia Class 5 driver’s license (must provide driver’s abstract).</li>\n <li>Required to be a designated member of the High Angle Rescue team.</li>\n <li>Must obtain NARSO / AIMS license after completing the required hours.</li>\n <li>Experience in a diverse industrial environment.</li>\n <li>Strong mechanical aptitude and strong communication skills both written and oral.</li>\n <li>Ability to work both day and afternoon shifts, weekends and holidays as required.</li>\n <li>Proven abilities to problem solve, trouble shoot and work with deadlines.</li>\n <li>Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and flexibility to work effectively with management, staff, contractors and guests. </li>\n <li>Ownership of tools and safety boots a must.</li>\n <li>Exposure to machining equipment an asset.</li>\n <li>Diverse background trouble shooting hydraulics an asset.</li>\n <li>Welding experience is an asset (SMAW all position CWB certified welder/fitter).</li>\n <li>Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.</li>\n <li>Occupational First Aid Level II is an asset.</li>\n <li>Required to meet the physical demands of the job including weights of up to 23kg, heights of 70m, frequent standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending, crawling and ability to work with ladders.</li>\n <li><strong>Successful candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.</strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Who are you?</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong communicator</li>\n <li>Takes initiative</li>\n <li>Team player</li>\n <li>Enjoys a fun and diverse environment within hospitality industry</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Where and when to APPLY?</strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong>Applications can be submitted via the PNE website at <strong>www.pne.ca/jobs</strong> and will be accepted until the role is filled.  </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Preference will be given to candidates who submit their resume/cover letter before <strong><em>Sunday, March 08, 2026.</em></strong> We look forward to hearing from you! </p>\n<p><em>The PNE is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, committed to creating an inclusive workforce that reflects the diverse community we proudly serve.
