    "description": "<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Primary Job Functions:</strong></p>\n<p>General Responsibilities</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Provides support to youth by building trusting relationships</li>\n <li>Supports, coaches and trains youth in age-appropriate behaviors</li>\n <li>Supports, coaches and trains youth to demonstrate problem-solving and conflict resolution skills</li>\n <li>Offers support and guidance to youth as they receive services</li>\n <li>Participates in one-on-one meetings or treatment team meetings to discuss ideas, difficulties, suggestions, and expectations</li>\n <li>Provides social interaction, both individually and as a group, to develop social and recreational skills and to help participants develop insight into their mental illness</li>\n <li>Promotes recovery-oriented skills to help achieve goals created in the treatment plan</li>\n <li>Connects youth and young adults to community supports, natural supports and additional programs</li>\n <li>Assist participants in developing empowerment skills through self-advocacy and advocates on behalf of participant when needed</li>\n <li>Acts as a resource and safe person for youth to approach with questions, concerns and accomplishments</li>\n <li>Plans and conducts peer support groups focusing on topics related to recovery</li>\n <li>Other tasks as assigned by supervisor</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Clinical Record Keeping</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Documents in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy</li>\n <li>Documents legibly and in a clear and concise manner</li>\n <li>Documents individualized participant responses to services provided</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Supervision and Consultation</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Seeks supervision and consultation as needed</li>\n <li>Accepts and employs suggestions for improvement</li>\n <li>Actively works to enhance skills</li>\n <li>Attends and participates in staff meetings as required</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Courteous and respectful attitudes towards participants, visitors and co-workers:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Treats participants with care, dignity and compassion</li>\n <li>Respects participant’s privacy and confidentiality</li>\n <li>Is pleasant and cooperative with others</li>\n <li>Assists participants and visitors as needed</li>\n <li>Personal values don’t inhibit ability to relate and care for others</li>\n <li>Is sensitive to the participant’s needs, expectations and individual differences</li>\n <li>Is gentle and calm with participants and families</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Administrative and Other Related Duties as Assigned:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Actively participates in Performance Improvement activities</li>\n <li>Actively participates in AltaPointe committees as required</li>\n <li>Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner</li>\n <li>Follows AltaPointe policies and procedures</li>\n <li>Attends appropriate in-services training and other workshops</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>High school diploma or its equivalent; a valid, verifiable driver’s license, a good driving record, reliable transportation and verifiable vehicle liability insurance; ability to work flexible hours including evening and weekend hours; ability to attend DMH-approved Therapeutic Mentor training for certification; knowledge of youth/young adult specific competencies, outlined below, to be attained within six (6) months of employment:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in the youth/young adult population</li>\n <li>Knowledge of cultural diversity</li>\n <li>Knowledge of the Alabama Department of Mental Health and Medicaid standards</li>\n <li>Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention, as well as non-violent crisis intervention practices.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of a recovery-oriented treatment approach</li>\n <li>Ability to communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary team</li>\n <li>Ability to connect to youth/young adults and share skills and knowledge with others</li>\n</ul>",
