Description
The Osborne Association serves individuals, families, and communities affected by the criminal justice system. Through our programs, we offer opportunities for people to heal from and repair harm, restore their lives, and thrive. Osborne has opened its first transitional housing and reentry program, The Fulton Community Reentry Center (Fulton). Fulton will provide 140 beds of transitional reentry housing to formerly incarcerated men who would otherwise be homeless after discharge from a correctional facility. Fulton will also provide onsite reentry services, including case management, benefits enrollment, employment, health, and substance use disorder treatment. The facility operates 365 days on a 24-hour basis daily, including evening and weekend hours (some positions will require non-traditional work hours).
We currently seek a full-time Peer Mentor to join our Fulton Community Reentry Center team!
The Peer Mentor is responsible for providing encouragement and appropriate support to help participants reintegrate into community life through program engagement and advocates for participants' needs. This is an on-site position at our Fulton Community Reentry Center, located in the Bronx, NY.
Salary Range: $26.48 - $27.30 per hour
Essential Duties:
Conduct one to one meetings with participants, along with facilitating small group sessions Assist program participants with completing required assignments Meet with participants on an on-going, as needed basis both on and off site for support, advice and guidance Assist with connecting participants to community-based support resources including but not limited to escorting participants to appointments Assist participants in obtaining identification such as birth certificates, social security cards, government identification, and any other documents Document contacts, interventions, and interactions with participants in a timely manner and in accordance with established policies and procedures Work collaboratively with other Osborne programs Establish professional mentoring relationships with the residents to promote positive reintegration into the community In-person collaboration is an essential function of the job Perform other duties as assigned
