Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Facilities to oversee the maintenance and operational excellence of our resort, including Birdwood Mansion and Central Laundry. This leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to ensure the seamless functioning of our property’s mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems while fostering a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment for our guests and staff. Key Responsibilities: Manage the maintenance of all mechanical, plumbing, and electrical (MP&E) systems throughout the resort, including Birdwood Mansion and Central Laundry. Lead, mentor, and train the Engineering Department team members to ensure high performance and professional growth. Establish and maintain comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all equipment, systems, guestrooms, public areas, and general maintenance tasks. Distribute work orders efficiently and follow up to ensure timely completion and quality standards. Participate in and promote effective safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all staff. Coordinate and implement capital improvement projects related to MP&E systems to enhance operational efficiency and guest experience. Manage outside contractors and oversee all functions of the Engineering Department, including vendor relations and contract negotiations. Monitor departmental budgets, control costs, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Oversee the maintenance, preservation, and operational integrity of Birdwood Mansion, ensuring all building systems, historic features, event spaces, and guest-facing areas are maintained to the highest standards. Develop and execute preventative maintenance plans specific to Birdwood Mansion, balancing historic preservation requirements with modern operational needs and regulatory compliance. Partner with resort leadership and event teams to support weddings, special events, and guest programs hosted at Birdwood Mansion by ensuring facility readiness and rapid response to operational needs. Direct all facility-related operations of Central Laundry, including oversight of industrial washers, dryers, boilers, water systems, chemical dispensing equipment, and associated infrastructure. Ensure Central Laundry operations meet production demands, quality standards, safety requirements, and sustainability objectives while minimizing equipment downtime. Coordinate maintenance schedules and equipment replacement plans for Central Laundry to maximize efficiency and support uninterrupted resort operations. Monitor utility consumption and implement energy, water, and waste-reduction initiatives across the resort, with particular focus on the high-utilization systems within Central Laundry. Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards related to historic properties, commercial laundry operations, and resort facilities. Collaborate with departmental leaders to identify facility improvement opportunities and develop long-term asset management strategies for Birdwood Mansion, Central Laundry, and the broader resort campus.
