REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm COMPENSATION:  $86,452.11 - $95,313.45/year + DOE + Benefits, Exempt Permanent Full-Time Position CLOSING DATE: Until Filled Ilisagvik College is rooted in the ancestral homeland of the Iñupiat. The Iñupiaq way of life is woven into our curriculum, programs, activities, and daily interactions within Ilisagvik College and our community partners. SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Director/Manager of Financial Aid maintain an effective, efficient, and compliant IỊisaġvik College financial aid program including a robust outreach program targeted at internal and external stakeholders, prioritized towards North Slope and Indigenous communities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise, train, and evaluate Financial Aid staff. Delegation of tasks to staff while maintaining oversight to ensure compliance and quality control. Development and maintenance of an effective outreach program, independently and in collaboration and coordination with Student Services, Recruitment, and Marketing departments. Organization and delivery of financial aid seminars for enrollment management staff and academic advisors. Organization and delivery of workshops, special trainings, informational events, and related activities for prospective students, high school stakeholders, and Iḷisaġvik College students. Creation and/or delivery of radio broadcasts, social media postings, meetings/informational events, and informational materials for the general public. Development, review, and revision of financial aid policies and procedures. Provide guidance and advice to stakeholders on related matters. Compliance with regulations, procedures, and eligibility requirements of all current federal, state and local funding agencies and programs. Implement activities to ensure compliance. Communication with students, prospective students, parents, contractors, and the general public concerning financial aid, including the application process; eligibility criteria for federal, state, local and institutional student aid; disbursement of aid; and responsibilities for continued receipt of financial aid at IỊisaġvik College. Determination of student eligibility for federal Title IV programs according to the federally approved methodology. Verify information on application and based on federal and institutional regulations, calculate award amount and authorize disbursement. Revise calculations and make adjustments to eligibility based on professional judgement while maintaining legal compliance. Maintenance of fund control records for all programs. Submit monthly funding status reports to Supervisor. Preparation of all files, reports, and records for annual audits conducted for federal/state/local programs. Communication with BIA, ACPE contractors, and other federal, state, local, and institutional funding agencies concerning student eligibility for financial aid. Management of Iḷisaġvik College Financial Aid committees. Attendance and participation in federal, state, local and professional financial aid information and training conferences. Assurance of on-going communication with local, state, and federal funding agencies regarding new and/or revised regulations and rules. Complies with College policies, procedures, and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances. Performs other related duties as required KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Familiarity with financial aid computer programs [e.g.  EMPOWER, EDExpress, and EDConnect]. Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated PC proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision and to meet tight deadlines. Ability to travel occasionally. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check. Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions. Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College. Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community. Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/EXPERIENCE [Required]: Bachelor’s degree in Student Services, Business or other related field, plus directly related experience working with students in a post-secondary institution. One year demonstrated financial aid work experience or nationally recognized financial aid credentials (NASFAA). EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]: Master’s degree in higher education administration, student development, organizational leadership or related field. Three years demonstrated financial aid work experience. Valid driver’s license. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
