Description
THOR Solutions is seeking an experienced, mission-focused professional to support the Surface Warfare Engineering Schools Command (SWESC) as an Electrical Systems Instructor. This position supports SWESC providing operation, curriculum support (includes updates and maintenance of curriculum), administration, safety, and management support services for formalized naval training.
The Electrical Systems Instructor supports technical and military training for enlisted personnel of the U.S. and allied navies temporarily assigned to Naval Station Great Lakes for training. Accomplishes upgrades and improvements as needed. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following:
Classroom Preparation: Prepare classrooms, workstations, and labs prior to instruction, ensuring all equipment is set up and instructional materials are available. Operational Checks: Perform operational checks of classroom and lab training equipment, devices, and aids to ensure functionality and readiness. Equipment Maintenance: Identify deficiencies or discrepancies in training equipment and instructional aids, including preventative and corrective maintenance needs. Submit written recommendations to the Training Authority (TA) and the Contracting Officer Representative (COR). Inventory Management: Maintain an adequate inventory of instructional materials and student forms required for specific classes and labs. Reporting Discrepancies: Document and report any material discrepancies or issues that may hinder teaching any section of the course through the SWSC/PMS 339/SLC Formal Course Review process.
Location: Onsite at the Surface Warfare Engineering School Command in Great Lakes, IL.
Typical Physical Activity: Desk/computer work in an office environment and training/instructor work in a classroom environment. May involve: repetitive motion, hearing, or talking.
Typical Pay Range: The anticipated pay range for this position in the identified location(s) is $27.51/hour base pay + $4.93/hour “health & welfare” payment, for a combined total $32.44/hour. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience.
Existing Secret Security Clearance Required : This position requires an existing DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate will already possess an Active or Interim Secret security clearance. An otherwise strongly qualified candidate with highly relevant experience but no current security clearance may be considered.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: High school diploma/GED equivalent or relevant military “A” or “C” school. Be a graduate of the Navy Instructor Training Course (CIN: A-012-0077) (NEC 9502) OR equivalent instructor training course; At least three (3) years technical experience in the subject matter hired to instruct. This experience must include at least two (2) years of experience in a Military Training Environment. Have knowledge of learning principles, practices, and methods of presentation and delivery of course content, testing and remediation procedures, curriculum, training aids, devices, electronic podiums, TTE, lab equipment, equipment operation and maintenance procedures associated with the course. Must be a former Senior (E5 – E9) Surface Ship Engineer and possess one of the following sets of qualifications: Tier I (Master Level): An Electrician’s Mate AND a graduate of the following courses; Air Cooled Frequency Converter, Maintenance (A-652-0241) Electrician’s Mate Surface Ship Electrical Advanced Maintenance (A-662-0017) SSM Automated Degaussing (A-690-0022) OR, Tier II (Journeyman Level): An Electrician’s Mate AND a graduate a of at least one (1) of the following courses; Electrician’s Mate (EM) Gas Turbine System Technician Electrical (GSE) Interior Communications Electrician (IC) Plus a graduate of two (2) out of the three (3) following courses: Air Cooled Frequency Converter, Maintenance (A-652-0241) Electrician’s Mate Surface Ship Electrical Advanced Maintenance (A-662-0017) SSM Automated Degaussing (A-690-0022) Benefit Offerings: Along with competitive pay, THOR offers a comprehensive benefits package including:
