    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Directly supervise, hire, train and evaluate marine personnel that work among the Gulf Inland Waters. Conduct Tug Inspections, attend SIRE inspections, and conduct evaluations and navigation audits of Deck Officers via direct observations on board. Develop marine operations and cost control programs for vessels.  Assist in new project development, interfacing with customers, etc. Assist in vessel scheduling of personnel as required. Produce weekly Operations reports.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Supervise Captains, Mates, and Deck Crews</li>\n <li>Conduct Management Vessel Inspections on repair and maintenance standards and procedures</li>\n <li>Ensuring that vessels are SIRE ready at all times</li>\n <li>Assist in scheduling of SIRE’s, and SIRE inspections</li>\n <li>Perform incident investigations</li>\n <li>Manage compliance with Company safety program</li>\n <li>Prompt and correct response to operating situations</li>\n <li>Recruitment, performance reviews and auditing of marine personnel</li>\n <li>Develop and administer operating & cost control procedures on Company vessels</li>\n <li>Perform inspections of vessels on repair & maintenance standards and procedures</li>\n <li>Assist in new project development</li>\n <li>Interface with customers on an ongoing basis</li>\n <li>Operate company vessels as Captain if directed by President, Vice President, Director of Marine Operations, or General Manager</li>\n <li>Accident & Spill Free Operations</li>\n <li>Training, professional skill development of marine personnel</li>\n <li>Safety record of vessels and crew</li>\n <li>Development of company operating procedures and acceptance by Vetters</li>\n <li>Perform in the company Spill Management team as assigned</li>\n <li>Perform other related duties as assigned</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Five (5) years of experience as Master on Inland towing vessels, pushing barges on the ICWW from Corpus Christ TX to Pascagoula MS. Western Rivers including LMR, Illinois, Ohio or equivalent military experience.</li>\n <li>Four (4) year college education in Maritime or related studies or equivalent experience.</li>\n <li>Valid US Coast Guard Masters of Towing for Inland and Western Rivers. Or at least a 200 ton Near Coastal Master with Master Western Rivers and a tow endorsement.</li>\n <li>Minimum of two years shoreside vessel management</li>\n <li>Dangerous Liquids barge PIC endorsement strongly preferred</li>\n <li>500T Minimum Master of Towing preferred</li>\n <li>Extensive knowledge of the tugboat and oil transportation industry</li>\n <li>Must be thoroughly familiar with tank barge, ship and terminal/refinery operations</li>\n <li>Knowledge of tug and barge maintenance systems and equipment</li>\n <li>Complete a 24 hour HAZWOPER course (including Incident Command System) training within 6 months of being hired</li>\n <li>First Aid/CPR training</li>\n <li>STCW Certification preferred</li>\n <li>Valid State Driver’s license</li>\n <li>Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crew members</li>\n <li>Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications</li>\n <li>Able and willing to travel to the out ports</li>\n <li>Ability to work with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment</li>\n <li>Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions</li>\n <li>Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance</li>\n <li>Proficient using Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Job Condition and Environment</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Capable of making decisions and giving directions to facilitate safe and prompt service delivery.</li>\n <li>Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and in port.</li>\n <li>Frequently required to board tugs, barges, and ships, at dock or at anchor in all weather conditions and at all hours.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Expected Hours of Work</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Normal office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.</li>\n <li>Take communications 24 hours a day, including weekends concerning changes in schedules and conditions, operational concerns, and in response to incidents.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Company Overview</h2>\n<p></p>\n<p>Centerline Logistics is a leading provider of marine transportation services in the United States.
