    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><span>This position is a 1.0 FTE located at&nbsp;</span><strong>Syphax&nbsp;Education Center</strong><span>&nbsp;in the </span><strong>Special Education Office.</strong></p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li><span>Internships in a variety of pathology settings.</span></li><li><span>Complete appropriate assessments and reports on students referred by the&nbsp;SSC for an evaluation.</span></li><li><span>Vary instructional techniques and service delivery to meet individual students needs emphasizing integration and the general education curriculum.</span></li><li><span>Participate in review of assessment information for referred&nbsp;students as a member of the multidisciplinary team.</span></li><li><span>Consult with building staff regarding instructional methods and student management.</span></li><li><span>Develop, implement and monitor IEP goals and objectives.</span></li><li><span>Work collaboratively with building staff to develop, implement, and monitor academic and behavioral intervention plans for students.</span></li><li><span>Maintain standard of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment for learning in different school settings.</span></li><li><span>Maintain current and appropriate student data records.</span></li><li><span>Participate in continuing professional education and research.</span></li><li><span>Support assistive technology assessments and services.</span></li><li><span>Provide assessment and treatment for multilingual and limited English proficient students who are disabled.</span></li><li><span>Participate in on-going teacher and parent conferences.</span></li><li><span>Supervise and plan with student teachers.</span></li><li><span>Serve as mentor teacher or supervisor to CFY speech-language pathologists.</span></li><li><span>Schedule students to accommodate their needs and educational program.</span></li><li><span>Provide information workshops as needed.</span></li><li><span>Screen all students new to Arlington Public Schools.</span></li><li><span>Familiarity with occupational therapy assessments appropriate for school&nbsp;age children and pertinent to the educational process.</span></li><li><span>Ability to write clear and concise reports of evaluations and progress.</span></li><li><span>Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents.</span></li><li><span>Familiarity with a variety of service delivery models and occupational therapy treatment modalities.</span></li></ul><p><span><strong>Experience:</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Experience in the above mentioned area</span></li><li><span>Knowledge of best instructional practices</span></li><li><span>Ability to integrate&nbsp;technology</span></li><li><span>Experience in educational and instructional leadership</span></li><li><span>Dual endorsed preferred</span></li><li><span>Bilingual skills preferred</span></li></ul><p><span><strong>Qualifications:</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.</span></li><li><span>Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology.</span></li><li><span>The Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology shall issue licenses to such persons without examination, upon review of credentials and payment of an application fee in accordance with regulations of the Board for school speech-language pathologists.</span></li><li><span>Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.</span></li></ul><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\"><strong>Arlington Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\">It is the policy of the Arlington School Board, as stated in Policy G-2.30, Employee Relations – Equal Employment Opportunity - that “Employment opportunities shall not be restricted, abridged or otherwise adversely affected on the basis of race, national origin, creed, color, religion, gender, age, economic status, sexual orientation, national origin, marital status, genetic information, gender identity or expression, and/or disability.”</p>",
