Description

Overview The Uintah County Office of Utah State University Extension is seeking a qualified individual to assist in coordinating countywide youth programs as part of the county 4-H team. Responsibilities include recruiting and supporting volunteers and teen leaders to help lead 4-H clubs and events, providing engaging educational experiences, and promoting the principles of positive youth development through 4-H programming.This position will include some direct programming with youth, with a primary focus on building community partnerships and expanding program opportunities. The individual will also lead and advise local 4-H groups in managing funds that support youth programming and provide trainings and support for adult volunteers. This is a full-time benefited position. This position will report to Uintah County Extension Faculty. Job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check. Responsibilities Advance the 4-H program in the county by recruiting and training volunteers and youth leaders to organize and run 4-H Clubs. Provide support and guidance to existing and new volunteers and 4-H clubs. Promote Regional and State 4-H programs. This may include marketing, registering, and supporting volunteers in facilitating opportunities Support a variety of Extension outreach activities that may include school enrichment activities such as Farm Field Day, Career Days, camps, and teen leadership programs etc. Respond to requests, office visits, telephone calls, emails, and other correspondence promptly and professionally. Be an active member of the USU Youth Programs Team, which includes participating in meetings, serving on working groups, and assisting at regional and state events Support the Civil Rights mandate of Utah State University Extension and implement innovative approaches to reach diverse audiences. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field, associate degree plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organizational skills, and basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet, Zoom, etc.) Desire to work with volunteers and youth leaders Valid driver’s license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials Must have access to reliable transportation to and from work site Preferred Qualifications: Experience with 4-H or other youth serving organizations. Experience with recruiting, supervising, and working with volunteers. Knowledge of the Land Grant University system. Prior experience with community programming Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work independently and as a team member. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to teach, manage and engage an audience (youth and adult). Strong computer and technology skills (Microsoft Office, Canva) Ability to market USU Extension youth program events and opportunities. Ability to effectively utilize social media to raise awareness of opportunities. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to pleasantly interact with a wide variety of individuals. Ability to work nights and weekends. Ability to travel throughout area of responsibility, occasional statewide, consistent with university policy.
