Job Summary
The Heavy Haul Driver II is responsible for transporting various sized and configured equipment to and from various locations to service residential and commercial clients.
Essential Functions
• Conduct daily pre-shift and post-shift vehicle inspection and report deficiencies to shop immediately.
• Report improper operation, faulty equipment and unusual conditions to the Maintenance Manager utilizing the proper vehicle inspection report paperwork.
• Operate truck to and from pre-designated work sites based on daily routing information, following detailed directives on work orders.
• Maintain telephone or radio contact with dispatch to receive additional instructions and changes to work locations etc.
• Ability to use and operate an electronic tablet to log time and receive dispatch tickets.
• Identify and observe proper construction hand signal etiquette to operate machines efficiently and safely.
• Ensure that all needed equipment is oiled, greased and adjusted for service, according to operating needs.
• Ability to safely transport various sized, configured and oversized construction equipment with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to load and unload a trailer in a variety of infield environments.
• Responsible to operate a wide variety of equipment including track hoes, bulldozers, graders, forklifts, telescoping lifts, scissor lifts and earth moving equipment attachments to move onto trailer, as needed.
• Ability to perform and is well versed in the rules and regulations to properly secure vehicles, chaining and binding down the equipment, as needed.
• Maintains truck logs according to state and federal regulations.
• Ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures, utilizing the proper signage and flagging.
• All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Competencies or Experience Requirements
• Class A - CDL License
• DOT Physical Card
• 3-5 years driving experience loading and unloading equipment
• Clean driving record
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to use electronic devices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
Education Requirements
High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
Safety
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
Travel
Travel to job sites is required as needed.
