Description
Canopy is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial campaigner to join the Pack4Good (P4G) team as Senior Corporate Campaigner, with a focus on producer engagement.
This is an external-facing role responsible for building and owning relationships with packaging producers, particularly in priority markets including China, to accelerate the uptake of Next Generation (Next Gen) materials like agricultural residues and drive meaningful progress toward Canopy’s 2030 goals. The successful candidate will combine deep knowledge of pulp and paper supply chains with the strategic acuity and cross-cultural fluency needed to operate in complex and rapidly evolving markets.
Why this role matters
Packaging is Canopy’s highest-growth opportunity for non-wood Next Gen fibre uptake, and the P4G strategy is focused on clustering brand demand signals around specific producers to create the market conditions for large-scale Next Gen adoption. The P4G Producer Senior Corporate Campaigner will be instrumental in operationalizing Canopy’s strategy. This is a high-leverage moment to transition packaging away from virgin wood fibre to protect the world’s remaining Ancient and Endangered Forests.
LOCATION:
Remote (within 4-hours PST)
POSITION TYPE:
Full-time, Permanent
REPORTS TO:
Pack4Good Strategic Lead
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
June 30
Key Responsibilities
As part of the Canopy Pack4Good campaign team, contribute to the development of strategic pathways to engage and transform the paper packaging sector
Develop and maintain relationships with pulp, paper and packaging producers to scale up the use of lower-impact recycled and Next Gen feedstocks
Support brand and corporate customers of paper packaging to implement purchasing policies and practices to transform their paper packaging supply chains
Support colleagues responsible for brand outreach through skill and information sharing and collaboration on priority events, strategic initiatives, and delivery of team goals
Lead or contribute to the development of key tools and communications outputs, including reports, factsheets, presentations, webinars, and policy papers
Collaborate in multidisciplinary project teams on time-bound organizational priorities
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with NGOs and other relevant organizations to facilitate learning and information sharing
This role is also occasionally required to:
Contribute to creating communication materials
Contribute content to funding proposals and reports
Work cross-organizationally to advance Canopy’s overarching goals and 2030 vision
Desired Outcomes
Deliver targeted producer research and intelligence that informs outreach prioritization across regions, including tracking fibre sourcing, supplier relationships, and key brand customers
Establishment of at least two new producer-centric cohorts for the Pack4Good brand team to engage
Contributes to the implementation of Canopy’s impact strategy, with at least one large producer in a priority paper-producing region to meaningfully engaged in Next Gen uptake initiatives within the first year
Improved supply chain information organization, maintenance, and sharing across the Pack4Good and Next Gen fibre teams
Key Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
Demonstrated experience in pulp and paper, wood product, agriculture residue, or adjacent commodity supply chains; able to interpret and conduct supply chain research without reliance on internal support

Entrepreneurial problem-solver; comfortable with testing approaches and navigating political and cultural complexity — particularly in East Asian markets
Cultural competency and/or lived or working experience in China or other East Asian markets strongly preferred; willingness to travel to priority regions
Fluency in Mandarin is an asset
Excellent relationship management skills, with credibility, diplomacy, and the ability to navigate complexity with external stakeholders
Strong communication skills, including the ability to develop compelling partnership narratives and translate strategy into action
Strong ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and break down silos to advance shared objectives
Comfort operating in a dynamic environment with multiple moving parts and evolving opportunities
Passion for environmental conservation, social impact, and mission-driven work strongly preferred
Embrace a “Yes, AND...” mindset to foster innovation and collaboration ( https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/what-does-mean-say-yes-change-jordan-hirsch/ )
How to Apply: Please submit your CV, a cover letter, and a separate response to the prompt below. Applications missing either the cover letter or the prompt response will not be considered.
COVER LETTER
: A standard cover letter expressing your interest in Canopy and the Pack4Good Producer Senior Corporate Campaigner role.
PROMPT RESPONSE
: Please answer the following question in a clearly labelled section within your cover letter document:
Pack4Good's strategy for scaling Next Generation materials in packaging depends on identifying the right producers, understanding their supply chains, and creating the conditions for them to act.
Choose one packaging producer (a real company, not a hypothetical) that you believe represents a strong near-term opportunity for Canopy to engage on next gen fibre adoption.
In your answer, briefly describe:
Why you selected this producer - what characteristics (sourcing profile, customer base, regional footprint, or strategic positioning) make them a credible target
What you assess to be the primary barrier to their adoption of Next Gen materials, and how you would approach that barrier
One concrete first step you would take to open or advance a relationship with this producer, and how you would connect that outreach to Canopy's broader brand engagement work Please keep your response to 300–400 words.
ON AI USE AND AUTHENTICITY
You may use AI tools to brainstorm, edit, or proofread, but please do not use AI to write your cover letter or prompt response for you. We want to hear your voice, experiences, and perspective, not a polished, generic version generated by a model. If you use AI for minor editing assistance, please add a short note at the end of your prompt response (e.g., "I used [tool name] to proofread this response"). Applications written in a genuine, original voice will be prioritized.
