This position is built as a Controller-track opportunity for a hands-on leader who wants real ownership, visibility, and a clear path to expanded financial leadership.</p>\n<p>You’ll run day-to-day accounting operations while elevating the function—tightening controls, improving reporting, and building audit-ready financials under U.S. GAAP. Over time, this role will naturally expand into broader oversight of the close process, audits, and financial structure consistent with a Controller-level position.</p>\n<p>If you’re someone who’s been executing at a high level but hasn’t yet been given the reins—this is that opportunity.</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What You’ll Own</span></span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Accounting Operations &amp; Accuracy</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead all core accounting functions: AP, AR, payroll coordination, general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close</li>\n<li>Ensure financials are accurate, timely, and complete—no surprises</li>\n<li>Act as both a working manager and technical resource across the team</li>\n<li>Maintain clean, reliable data to support decision-making and growth</li>\n<li>Step in where needed—this is a leadership role, not a “delegate-only” role</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Controller-Track Responsibilities</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build and maintain audit-ready financials and supporting schedules</li>\n<li>Strengthen internal controls and close discipline</li>\n<li>Prepare for and support external audits as a primary contact</li>\n<li>Partner directly with ownership on financial review and insights</li>\n<li>Gradually take ownership of close oversight, reporting structure, and controls</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Process Improvement &amp; Systems</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Standardize workflows and reduce key-person dependency</li>\n<li>Improve documentation across all accounting processes</li>\n<li>Identify inefficiencies and implement practical solutions</li>\n<li>Elevate the clarity and usefulness of financial reporting</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Team Leadership</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff</li>\n<li>Set expectations, hold the line on performance, and build accountability</li>\n<li>Foster a team that values accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement</li>\n<li>Work cross-functionally to resolve issues with a company-first mindset</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What You Bring</span></span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong technical accounting foundation (GAAP)</li>\n<li><span>Multi-entity experience is a plus</span></li>\n<li>Advanced Excel skills—you don’t just use it, you leverage it</li>\n<li>Experience with accounting systems / ERP platforms</li>\n<li>Ability to operate as both a doer and a leader</li>\n<li>Organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable managing competing priorities</li>\n<li>Clear, confident communicator—especially with ownership</li>\n<li>A proactive mindset—you fix problems instead of working around them</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Education &amp; Experience</span></span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field</li>\n<li>CPA strongly preferred</li>\n<li>5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience</li>\n<li>2+ years in a lead or supervisory role</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Compensation &amp; Benefits</span></span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Salary:</span> $98,000 – $138,000 annually (exempt)</li>\n<li>Medical, Dental, Vision benefit 100% paid for by employer for employee</li>\n<li>100% employer-paid L&amp;I coverage</li>\n<li>Employee Assistance Program (EAP)</li>\n<li>Paid Sick Leave: 1 hour per 40 hours worked</li>\n<li>Stable, team-oriented environment with long-term growth potential</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Location &amp; Work Environment</span></span></span></p>\n<p>Hybrid role (primarily remote) with ability to report to:</p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Mount Vernon (HQ):</span> 13084 Ball Road</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Bellingham :</span> 885 E Bakerview Rd.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Must be able to be onsite within 24 hours when needed. This means you need to be local to the area.</p>\n<p>Note: Both locations are active construction &amp; demolition recycling site.
