The successful candidate will take the lead on upgrading and maintaining critical facility and motion control systems to meet specified plant and test conditions. This role requires the application of control theory, electrical standards, and PLC software expertise to develop system requirements, specifications, and designs. The candidate will also oversee the installation and deployment of these systems. This position provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with a large team of dedicated engineering professionals; all focused on achieving customer satisfaction while delivering projects on time and within budget.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Open to internal and external candidates.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This position may require occasional extended hours and weekend work to meet critical contractual requirements and to support outage activities. Occasional travel between AEDC facilities may also be necessary.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Job Summary</strong></p>\n<p>The successful candidate will apply expertise in electrical design, safety standards, programming, configuration management, and testing to develop complex electrical and control systems. They will also assist with requirements development, cost and schedule estimation, procurement, fabrication, and system deployment.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Job Duties:</strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>Electrical Controls Engineers are critical to the execution of the test mission at AEDC. Some of the specific duties for this mid-level position include:</p>\n<p><strong>Core Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Develop and design automated control systems and low voltage power circuits.</li>\n <li>Create or Approve electrical design drawings, including concept sketches, layouts, and bills of materials.</li>\n <li>Develop control system software using PLC ladder logic, function blocks, and HMI programming.</li>\n <li>Prepare specifications, design calculations, engineering studies, reports, and test procedures.</li>\n <li>Develop project requirements.</li>\n <li>Prepare labor and material cost estimates.</li>\n <li>Specify materials for procurement.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Project & Team Collaboration</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Guide entry-level engineers and technical teams.</li>\n <li>Oversee hardware assembly, fabrication, and installation.</li>\n <li>Perform facility checkouts, startups, and commissioning.</li>\n <li>Provide periodic cost and schedule reports to the Project Manager.</li>\n <li>Review design documents from equipment manufacturers and subcontractors, preparing comments and recommendations.</li>\n <li>Prepare Statement of Work (SOW) packages for outside contractors and review their submittals.</li>\n <li>Participate in and foster a work environment based on openness, trust, communication, teamwork, and innovation.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>General Requirements</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by company policy and supervisory direction.</li>\n <li>Perform other duties as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Basic Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor of Science degree in electrical or mechatronics engineering from an accredited college or university (ABET accreditation preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience. </li>\n <li>Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated knowledge through experience in electronics, instrumentation, low-voltage power systems, control systems, PLCs, variable frequency drive (VFD) systems, motion control systems, sensors, transmitters, actuators, valves, PID control, and industrial communication networks.</li>\n <li>Current U. S.
