Please attach a copy of your valid EMT license in the &ldquo;Attachments&rdquo; section of your application before submission.****</span></h2><h2><br></h2><h2 id=\"isPasted\">General Statement of Duties</h2><p>Provides medical care including assessment, treatment and stabilization to the ill and injured within the established scope of practice.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h2>Classification Summary</h2><p>An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) has certification and licensure as an EMT and provides basic-level life support under the direction of paramedics and AEMT&rsquo;s.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h2>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Provides efficient and effective medical&nbsp;care to the ill and injured while focusing on safety;</li><li>Operates emergency vehicles and transports patients&nbsp;to appropriate medical facility;</li><li>Maintains communication with necessary parties including dispatch, hospital, police&nbsp;and fire&nbsp;personnel;</li><li>Maintains accurate Patient Care Reports, files&nbsp;and&nbsp;forms;</li><li>Maintains records of vehicles, supplies, training&nbsp;and daily&nbsp;work;</li><li>Cleans and maintains equipment, vehicles&nbsp;and living&nbsp;quarters IAW local, state or federal regulations when required.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><h2>Other Duties and Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Assists with technical rescues;</li><li>Must attend sufficient continuing education classes, courses and seminars both on and off duty to maintain paramedic certification, as required by the State of Idaho;</li><li>Performs other related functions as&nbsp;assigned.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><h2>Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</h2><p>Knowledge of:</p><ul><li>Street systems, addresses and the physical layout of Elmore&nbsp;County;</li><li>Rescue and emergency medical&nbsp;equipment;</li></ul><p>Ability to:</p><ul><li>Perform technical medical skills with a high degree of&nbsp;accuracy;</li><li>Understand and effectively deal with emotional and medical needs of&nbsp;patients;</li><li>Maintain a professional and objective approach to the care of ill or injured&nbsp;persons;</li><li>Learn new concepts in rescue techniques, medical skills and in pre-hospital&nbsp;care;</li><li>Handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing work daily;</li><li>Operate standard office equipment and software programs;</li><li>Perform basic maintenance of rescue and medical&nbsp;equipment;</li><li>Understand and follow verbal and written instructions and&nbsp;orders;</li><li>Maintain a professional attitude as a representative of Elmore County;</li><li>Establish and maintain effective working&nbsp;relationships;</li><li>Safely drive and operate emergency vehicles;</li><li>Work overnight in 24-48-hour schedules with possibility of emergency call-ins on off days;</li><li>Maintain regular and punctual attendance to ensure timely and quality emergency response services.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><h1><u>Education and Certification Requirements</u></h1><p>Required at time of hire:</p><ul><li>High school diploma or GED; &nbsp;</li><li>Must possess and maintain a valid Idaho driver&rsquo;s license;</li><li>Must possess and maintain Idaho State Licensure as an EMT;</li><li>Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification meeting AHA standards.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Must be able to obtain within one year of employment:</p><ul><li>Complete an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC);</li><li>Certification in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) and/or Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS);</li><li>Complete a HAZ-MAT awareness or equivalent;</li><li>Complete ICS-100, ICS-200, and ICS-700.</li></ul><h1>&nbsp;</h1><h1><u>Other Requirements&nbsp;</u></h1><ul><li>This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug&nbsp;testing;</li><li>The incumbent will be issued and must wear Elmore Ambulance Service uniforms while on duty and be responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of both dress and safety uniforms, as well as all issued equipment.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><h1><u>Work Environment and Demands&nbsp;</u></h1><p>The incumbent must be able to perform the following with or without reasonable accommodation:</p><ul><li>The incumbent is required to operate emergency medical vehicles, move medical equipment and extract injured persons from a wide variety of situations involving vehicular, industrial and residential accidents, injuries or illness;</li><li>At times the work requires movement over various types of terrain (hilly, steep, rocky, rough, and/or wet/slippery surfaces);</li><li>The incumbent at all times must be able to carry or help carry someone from the site of the illness or injury to&nbsp;the mode of transportation (vehicle/helicopter) and attend to the patient while in&nbsp;transport;</li><li>Must be able to&nbsp;lift, carry, push, and/or pull&nbsp;up&nbsp;to 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance);</li><li>The incumbent must see, hear and communicate with the patient in order to perform a physical&nbsp;assessment;</li><li>Work is typically performed in 24-hour shifts or a combination of 12- and 24-hour shifts for a total of 48 hours per week.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;<strong>Position to remain open until filled.&nbsp;</strong></p></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>\n<br/>Work is typically performed in 24-hour shifts or combination of 12- and 24-hour shifts ",
