Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Novelis has approximately 13,000 employees in 32 operating facilities on 4 continents.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities & Qualifications</h2>\n<p>The Novelis Bay Minette, AL team is seeking a Mechanic to work in the Bay Minette facility. This role will report to the Engineering, Maintenance, Reliability & Automation (EMRA) Leader of the hiring Manufacturing Unit. The primary focus of this position is maintenance, service and repair of facilities and equipment. Successful Mechanics are fast learners and self-motivated, independent workers. They will have the ability to work under pressure and the willingness to work in varying conditions. Mechanical Technicians receive training in troubleshooting, technical procedures, and safety.</p>\n<h2><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Embrace the Novelis Safety Absolutes to build a zero-injury culture and the Novelis cultural beliefs of Be Authentic, Say Anything, Be Open and Built Trust</li>\n <li>Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain machines and the plant facility’s equipment</li>\n <li>Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service</li>\n <li>Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments </li>\n <li>Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities </li>\n <li>Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas</li>\n <li>Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable</li>\n</ul>\n<h2><strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong></h2>\n<ul>\n <li>HS Diploma/GED or 5yrs industrial experience required</li>\n <li>5 years experience in an industrial environment and/or 2 year degree/certification, preferred</li>\n <li>Experienced with LOTO of mechanical systems ensuring elimination of stored energy from gravity and hydraulic systems</li>\n <li>Ability to read and understand hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams </li>\n <li>Written and oral communication skills, computer skills and familiarity with computer maintenance management systems. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repair histories, and equipment performance metrics. </li>\n <li>Familiar with safety of cranes, mobile equipment, working in heights, confined space and hot work such as welding.</li>\n <li>Rigging experience to replace components </li>\n <li>Familiarity with preventative and predictive maintenance best practices and procedures </li>\n <li>Ability to align motors and gearboxes using gauges or laser-based systems</li>\n <li>Lead bearing, coupling, or other related part replacement using inductive heating or bearing pullers/hydraulic presses</li>\n <li>Able to read gauges both digital and analog and compare to print values to identify issues with fluid systems including oil-based hydraulics, natural gas fired burners, and water-based cooling system and provide basic troubleshoots for minor issues – faulty gauges/valves/settings not to print</li>\n <li>Experience with installing, maintaining, and repairing rotating equipment, lubrication and cooling systems.</li>\n <li>Willingness to work rotating shifts, off-shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to support continuous operations.</li>\n <li>Hand and power tools use and safety experience.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Welding experience of carbon and stainless steels</li>\n <li>Familiarity with conveyor system for mechanical belt splicing and training </li>\n <li>Familiarity with SAP work order system</li>\n <li>Experience with pneumatic transport equipment for materials </li>\n <li>Predictive maintenance certifications for thermography, vibration, or ultrasonic methods</li>\n <li>AWS CWI</li>\n <li>Experience with pollution control equipment – i.e. baghouses, precipitators or scrubbers </li>\n <li>Basic Fabrication skills for weldments- experience and proficient use of maintenance equipment and tools including metal working, drill presses, saws, and grinders</li>\n <li>Experience with servo valves.</li>\n <li>Ability to align motors and gearboxes using dial indicators and feeler gauges</li>\n <li>Ability to vulcanize rubber conveyor belts and change metallic mesh belts</li>\n <li>Knowledge of combustion systems</li>\n <li>Experience working with TPM/WCM or continuous improvement</li>\n <li>Able to troubleshoot and tune complex issues with fluid systems</li>\n <li>Current NCCCO service truck crane operator certification or ability to become certified within 6 months of starting</li>\n <li>Experience driving mobile equipment such as small cranes, lifts, fork trucks.</li>\n <li>Experience in the aluminum industry preferred, heavy industry alternatively preferred</li>\n <li>Experience with large baghouse systems with fire detection and suppression equipment – FIKE, GRECON especially</li>\n</ul>\n<h2><strong>Physical Requirements:</strong></h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Near constant standing with frequent walking and occasional sitting</li>\n <li>Occasional below waist level work, climbing, balancing, carrying, reaching over 15” away from the body, reaching above shoulder, fine motor skills, use of forceful motion, and lifting up to 35 lbs</li>\n <li>Occasional push/pull, and lifting up to 50 lbs</li>\n <li>Ability to meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation</li>\n <li>Able and willing to work at heights</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Military MOS Crosswalk includes but is not limited to:</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Army</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>12V — Concrete & Asphalt Equipment Operator </li>\n <li>91L — Construction Equipment Repairer </li>\n <li>91C — Utilities Equipment Repairer </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Navy </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>AS — Aviation Support Equipment Technician </li>\n <li>CM — Construction Mechanic</li>\n <li>CTM — Cryptologic Technician </li>\n <li>MM — Machinist’s Mate </li>\n <li>EN — Engineman</li>\n <li>UT — Utilitiesman  </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Coast Guard </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>MK — Machinery Technician</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Marine Corps </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>1169 — Utilities Chief </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>1345 — Engineer Equipment Operator </li>\n <li>1349 — Engineer Equipment </li>\n <li>1371 — Combat Engineer </li>\n <li>3529 — Motor Transport Maintenance Chief </li>\n <li>6073 — Support Equipment Electrician / Refrigeration & Engine/Gas Turbine Technician </li>\n <li>6499 — Mobile Facility Technician </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Air Force </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>3E2X1 — Pavements and Construction Equipment </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>3E1X1 — Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration</li>\n</ul>\n<h2><strong>What We Offer:</strong></h2>\n<p>Novelis' benefits say a lot about how we care for each other.
