font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">Responsibilities</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: </span><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Instruction &amp; Curriculum</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Adapt and differentiate classroom instruction and materials to meet the individualized needs of students in accordance with IEP goals.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Develop and implement lessons, curriculum maps, and units aligned with Missouri Learning Standards.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Use data to inform instruction and address students’ academic, social, and behavioral needs.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Provide direct instruction and instructional supports to improve student achievement in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Model and demonstrate instructional strategies to support student understanding and engagement.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Assessment &amp; Progress Monitoring</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Administer formal and informal assessments to evaluate student performance and guide instructional decisions.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Monitor and track progress toward IEP goals and objectives.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including progress reports, logs, and student records.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Prepare required documentation such as IEPs, evaluation reports, and progress updates in compliance with legal timelines.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Collaboration &amp; Communication</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff to implement IEPs and improve student outcomes.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, expectations, and strategies for support at home.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Participate in IEP meetings, problem-solving teams, and other school-based meetings.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Respond to inquiries from staff, families, and community members in a timely and professional manner.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Classroom &amp; Behavior Management</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Implement behavior management strategies to create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Monitor students across school settings (e.g., classroom, cafeteria, field trips).</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Support students in developing appropriate social, emotional, and problem-solving skills.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Supervision &amp; Leadership</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Direct and support paraprofessionals, instructional assistants, and volunteers.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Provide guidance on instructional strategies and accommodations for students with disabilities.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">Qualifications &amp; Traits</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">The ideal Special Education Teacher K-5 will have:</span><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">A bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) and appropriate Missouri Special Education Certification (“K-12 Mild/Moderate Cross Categorical Special Education” preferred) </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Experience (minimum two years preferred) teaching special education in a K-8 setting </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Exceptional written and oral communication skills </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Experience working in a socio-economic, racial and culturally diverse classroom setting</span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"> </span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">An ability to effectively manage and instruct both small and large groups of students </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">An exhibited ability to work with children in a caring and respectful manner in order to create a joyful, caring classroom environment where instructional time includes community building, conflict resolution, skill-building, and empowering students to be peacemakers and agents for positive social change </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(20, 20, 20); font-size: 10pt\">Knowledge of and experience with Special Education related computer programs to document services, notes, write IEP's, and run all necessary reports.
