The program merges clinical therapy, education, life skills training, and expressive recreation to support emotional growth in a structured setting.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Youth typically remain in care for <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">6 to 9 months</span>, engaging in individual, family, and group therapy; restorative justice; victim‑impact awareness; and pre‑vocational preparation. While unobtrusively providing external controls necessary to ensure safety and security, Mental Health Technicians guide and teach youth the internal controls needed to live responsibly when and where external controls are relaxed.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supervise the activities of a group of youths, maintaining knowledge of the whereabouts of all group members</li>\n<li>Comply with procedures on movement, physical security, contraband, head counts, and reporting</li>\n<li>Provide a safe, secure environment using group counseling techniques and positive discipline</li>\n<li>Represent each youth’s needs and accomplishments to the treatment team</li>\n<li>Conduct group problem-solving meetings and daily check-ins with youth</li>\n<li>Assist teachers with transferring classroom lessons to living units</li>\n<li>Promote and assist with daily activities, ensuring participation and follow-through</li>\n<li>Document daily shift activities and complete required reports</li>\n<li>Make referrals for special needs or medical evaluation as necessary</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-weight: bold\">Other Duties Include</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in training and development activities as required</li>\n<li>Report incidents or concerns involving youth or staff relationships</li>\n<li>Perform other duties as assigned</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-weight: bold\">Requirements</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Education:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma or equivalent required</li>\n<li>Two years of college coursework in social or human service field preferred</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Experience:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Two years’ experience working with youth preferred</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Skills:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong verbal skills to communicate effectively with youth</li>\n<li>Group counseling and leadership skills</li>\n<li>Ability to think independently and distinguish cause from effect</li>\n<li>Certification in First Aid, CPR, and crisis intervention required during probationary period</li>\n<li>Ability to provide accurate, objective documentation</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Demands:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to lift 30 pounds from floor to shoulder height</li>\n<li>Extensive walking and standing required</li>\n<li>Ability to intervene physically if necessary and participate in physical activities with youth</li>\n<li>Ability to transport youth as needed</li>\n<li>Free of communicable diseases as defined by the state</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Other:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Valid driver’s license and clean driving record</li>\n<li>Must pass state criminal background check requirements</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Equal Opportunity Employer</span></p>",
