We have 25+ Veterinarians, 50+ Technicians, 20+ Assistants and 20+ Client Service Representatives. We work side-by-side with different specialty practices (Neurology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, Ophthalmology, and Rehabilitation) and care for their patients overnight.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Shift Time:</span></p>\n<p>6am-4pm</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What You'll Get to Do</span></p>\n<p>As a Shift Lead you will commonly:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Managing treatment floor operations and staffing.</li>\n<li>Inspire positive attitudes, respectful behavior, and open communication</li>\n<li>Coach, counsel, utilize the corrective action process when appropriate</li>\n<li>Provide technical support on the treatment floor for ICU &amp; Admit</li>\n<li>Attend leadership meetings and contribute innovative ideas for growth and development</li>\n<li>Work with the Training Coordinator to ensure proper training of new and incumbent personnel</li>\n<li>Direct the general flow of the treatment room, ensuring that Veterinary Technicians and Assistants are executing duties as assigned</li>\n<li>Ensure the proper documentation and recordation of controlled drugs: maintain and enforce compliance with accurate recording in drug logs</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Assess patients upon arrival and prioritize them based on their health status after obtaining vitals</li>\n<li>Initiate stabilization treatments such as intravenous catheterization, blood collection, fluid therapy, oxygen therapy and administering medications as directed by veterinarian</li>\n<li>Participate in the development and implementation of treatment plans created by the veterinarian</li>\n<li>Administers high quality patient care through timely monitoring; correctly performs treatments as directed by veterinarian</li>\n<li>Collect and analyze blood, urine, fecal and skin samples in our in-house laboratory full of Idexx analyzers</li>\n<li>Administer anesthetic drugs and adjust them as needed during procedures and surgery, while recording and monitoring vital signs</li>\n<li>Produce images of soft-tissues, organs and bones safely with digital radiography equipment</li>\n<li>Place nasoesophageal and nasogastric feeding tubes for critical nutrition by mastering various suturing techniques</li>\n<li>Supply patients in need with packed red blood cell and frozen plasma transfusions</li>\n<li>Correctly calculates drug dosages and administers drugs as directed by veterinarian</li>\n<li>Lavage and assist in bandaging different wounds and lacerations</li>\n<li>Provide top quality care for post-surgical cases, including specialty ICU cases</li>\n<li>Provides outstanding customer service when triaging, gathering patient information and relevant history</li>\n<li>Attend CE courses/webinars or hands-on training as requested by the Clinical Educator</li>\n<li>Regularly attend staff meetings</li>\n</ul>\n<p>  </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Time Off</span></p>\n<p>At AAVEC we believe in Work - Life Balance and a healthy lifestyle which means the shift you are hired for is the shift time you will work every shift. This will help your life have some normalcy and consistency. We also believe in LOTS of time off, vacations, and spending quality time with your loved ones. Our rotation schedule was created by our veterinary technicians with the intent that it would allow them to take multiple vacations a year with using very little of their paid time off and would keep them from having to work every weekend.<span style=\"font-weight: bold\"> Every other weekend you will have 3 days off in a row, guaranteed. By only using 2 days of your PTO you are able to take 7 days off in a row multiple times a year. </span>Your schedule is also tentatively made for the entire year so you can make plans long in advance and also have a part time hobby or job if you choose.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Knowledge and Skill Requirements:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Working knowledge and skill required to nurse critically ill and emergency patients</li>\n<li>Ability to critically think, problem solve, and make decisions in order to follow through on DVM orders</li>\n<li>Knowledge of basic computer functions and the ability to learn new veterinary based software applications</li>\n<li>Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful work environment.
