Description The Nursing Laboratory Coordinator, Health and Wellness Sciences Division, works under the direction of the Nursing Programs Administrator who is overseen by the Division Dean. The coordinator is responsible for overseeing the personnel, students, equipment and environment of the nursing labs at the Elyria and North Ridgeville Campus. MSN is required. Typical responsibilities and functions include but are not limited to: Personnel: Works with clinical coordinator to determine the Nursing Laboratory Teaching Assistant’s work schedules, when needed; Orients new hires to lab environment (Explains equipment usage, supplies, procedures, safety, and general lab operation; Explains nursing and lab policies; Ensures faculty has online access to student handbook and faculty handbook); Conducts competencies annually on all lab personnel; Provides feedback to lead faculty on Nursing Laboratory Teaching Assistant’s performance for evaluation purposes; Completes evaluations on Nursing Laboratory Teaching Assistant’s, as directed by lead faculty; Absences (Monitors absence of Nursing Laboratory Teaching Assistant’s; Arranges for coverage of absence, if needed; Schedules for optional or make up time, if needed; Communicates to clinical coordinator absences and coverage needed or obtained); Supervision (Supervises activities of part-time laboratory instructors according to the needs of the ADN and PRNS programs). Students: Meets with students as needed; Works with Nursing Laboratory Teaching Assistant’s when problems are identified; Communicates issues to lead course faculty when appropriate. Communication: Maintains and updates bulletin boards in the college labs and outside HS 108 and 103; Communicates changes in lab policies, procedures to adjuncts and lead faculty; Communicates lab policy changes to Student Committee for placement in Student Handbook. Equipment: Sets up equipment needed for classes; Restocks supplies; Orders supplies as needed within budgetary allowance; Identifies need for capital purchases, putting together a proposal for capital equipment; Coordinates with lead course faculty regarding instructional needs; Collaborates with outreach programs concerning their college laboratory supply needs; Manages key assignments, voice mail, laboratory mailboxes, and file drawers for the nursing college laboratory; In collaboration with IS&S, provides for the maintenance and repair of laboratory video equipment; Plans and oversees lab cleaning and preparation each semester. Documentation: Maintains current ADN and PRNS nursing textbook collection, ADN and PRNS course syllabi and student handbooks (online); Maintains current documents in files. Lab Usage: Develops and monitors sign in sheets, tallying usage each semester; Submits lab usage reports to Nursing Program Administrator. Miscellaneous: Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of Health and Wellness Sciences and Nursing Program Director; Instructs lab sections as needed. Physical Requirements: (A) Physical Requirements (Able to stand for 6 to 8 hours; Lift and move objects of 35 pounds or more; Move from room to room quickly; Maneuver in limited spaces; Demonstrate a high level of manual dexterity. For example: sterile technique to insert catheter, withdraw blood, prepare and administer medications, (IV, IM, po, rectally); Work at different heights/levels). Qualifications Required Qualifications: MSN required. Must have a valid non-encumbered nursing license in the state of Ohio, as well as a minimum of 2 years experience as a Registered Nurse. Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience in a nursing program/lab setting preferred.
