Given significant responsibility, the Field Engineer / Geologist is tasked with the smooth and accurate execution of various projects, from the deployment of equipment to data acquisition and submission. They will work closely with equipment operators, gaining hands-on experience with unique heavy machinery and a sophisticated suite of geotechnical instruments in a variety of environments. The Field Engineer / Geologist will assume numerous other roles ranging from Assistant Field Operator to Project Coordinator as the ever-changing demands of the workplace dictate. A successful candidate must have well-developed interpersonal, organizational and communication skills as well as strong problem-solving abilities.</span></p>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>OVERALL GOALS FOR POSITION</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Develop a strong working knowledge of site investigation practices and procedures.</span></li>\n<li><span>Build comprehension of soil mechanics, in-situ testing, and geophysical field investigations. Gain experience and exposure as a contractor in several of North America’s largest industries.           </span></li>\n<li><span>Expand skill set through training and certifications to become an asset to a larger team.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES &amp; EXPECTATIONS</span></p>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>Equipment Operation</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Familiarize with and operate CPTu equipment, VST, sampling systems, numerous geophysical instruments, and other in-situ testing equipment in a safe and productive manner.</span></li>\n<li><span>Provide timely assistance to both Operators and Engineers as required.</span></li>\n<li><span>Assist with the mobilization and demobilization of equipment in hard-to-access environments.</span></li>\n<li><span>Perform routine maintenance on various pieces of equipment to ensure optimal performance.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>Data Collection &amp; Reporting</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Perform testing to collect data in a timely, orderly, and accurate manner.</span></li>\n<li><span>Compile the collected data, sample logs, etc. daily and submit to the Engineer/Supervisor and/or client for further processing.</span></li>\n<li><span>Collect field notes and photos to guarantee the translation of data from the field to the office is as highly accurate as possible.</span></li>\n<li><span>Prepare and compile the final field report.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>Health &amp; Safety</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Identify with and respect ConeTec’s safety culture, first and foremost.</span></li>\n<li><span>Ensure proper preparation and knowledge of all necessary safe operating procedures before beginning any job.</span></li>\n<li><span>Report any safety-related incidents, infractions, or near misses to the Project Manager and the HSE Officer, immediately.</span></li>\n<li><span>Know and follow the incident reporting protocol at all times.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>Other General Responsibilities</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Communicate with the Supervisor or Project Manager as to any equipment problems or needs, as well as any field observations that might be of use.</span></li>\n<li><span>Perform other shop functions as required.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED</span></p>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>Education Requirements</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Must be enrolled in Engineering/Geology program at an accredited post-secondary institution or have completed an Engineering/Geology degree or diploma program.</span></li>\n<li><span>Driver’s license and clean driving record.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>Experience Requirements</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Previous field experience is an asset.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>Technical Skill Requirements</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Basic electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic skills are an asset but not required.</span></li>\n<li><span>Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, moving heavy materials up to 50 lbs., climbing, crawling as well as walking on uneven ground, and working long hours in all weather conditions.</span><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>Soft Skill Requirements</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Must possess a strong work ethic and represent the company in a professional manner.</span></li>\n<li><span>Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.</span></li>\n<li><span>Must be responsible and work well independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision.</span></li>\n<li><span>Must enjoy working outdoors and travelling for extended periods of time.</span></li>\n<li><span>Must enjoy performing a wide variety of duties and be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>As part of our dedicated focus on the health and safety of all employees, and due to the requirement that employees be able to safely complete the tasks associated with this job position, a successful candidate may be required to take a pre-employment fit for duty test, including a drug and alcohol testing, and complete a satisfactory criminal record check.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>ConeTec is an equal opportunity employer.
