    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>Statement of the job</strong><br>\n  &nbsp;</p>\n<p>The University of Maine at Fort Kent is seeking to hire a Head Women's Volleyball Coach. This position will coach intercollegiate Women’s Volleyball, recruit as permitted by USCAA rules, conduct on-the-field teaching and coaching. This position requires frequent travel, work in the evenings, on weekends and holidays. This position will also include secondary responsibilities in Athletics to service the athletic program and the University. This will be determined by the area of departmental need and the related background of the successful candidate to service the institution in this administrative capacity.<br><br>\n  The salary for this position is $45,300.32<span> plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. The UMS is a recipient of the Wellness Councils of America’s Well Workplace Award and offers wellness programs.</span><br>\n  &nbsp;</p>\n<p>The Head Women’s Volleyball Coach oversees the day-to-day operations of the program; specific responsibilities shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:<br>\n  &nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>Major duties (Essential Functions):</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Coaches intercollegiate Women’s Volleyball</li>\n <li>Collaborates with the Admissions Department and Recruiting Coordinator in recruiting student athletes</li>\n <li>Plans, arranges, and directs team practices, travel, and competitions</li>\n <li>Mentor, advise and track academic eligibility regulations for student athletes</li>\n <li>Manages the care of team equipment, uniforms and training gear</li>\n <li>Assists with transportation by driving team vehicles</li>\n <li>Work closely with Athletic Trainer for student/athletes care and prevention of injuries</li>\n <li>Arrange competitive game schedule within budget limits</li>\n <li>To represent the University at professional meetings and other special or public events.</li>\n <li>To function as a member of the University Community by accepting special and committee assignments as may be requested by supervisor, and</li>\n <li>To assist in developing alumni athletic events, community relationships, and fund-raising opportunities</li>\n <li>To collaborate with the Sports Information Director and Media Relations office in the preparation of press releases, and the arrangement of media coverage for athletic<br>\n   events, and ensure that the appropriate media is informed of the results of all athletic events.</li>\n <li>Maintain roster goal of 12 to 15 athletes barring any unforeseen circumstances</li>\n <li>To represent the university and Department of Athletics in a positive manner</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><strong>Secondary Responsibilities (To be determined by departmental and institutional needs, as well as the professional background of the successful candidate):</strong></p>\n<p><i>Duties could include:</i></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Sports Information and Media Publications</li>\n <li>Athletic Compliance and Department Operations</li>\n <li>Intramural and Recreation Programs</li>\n <li>Game Day Management and Transportation services</li>\n <li>Sports Center Management</li>\n <li>Other university duties</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree</li>\n <li>Prior related coaching experience</li>\n <li>Knowledge of rules and statistics</li>\n <li>Familiarity with NCAA/NAIA/USCAA standards, rules, and procedures</li>\n <li>Excellent communication skills</li>\n <li>Ability to deal with a wide variety of people in a courteous, tactful and efficient manner, organization skills, detailed-oriented, and ability to meet tight deadlines</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Previous collegiate volleyball playing experience</li>\n <li>Previous college coaching experience</li>\n <li>Athletic administrative experience</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>About the University&nbsp;</strong><br><br>\n  Located on the northernmost border of Maine, the University of Maine at Fort Kent is a career-focused campus offering relevant, experiential, academic programs and services with personalized attention. &nbsp;UMFK’s diverse student population enjoys the opportunity to live and learn in a beautiful, natural setting and a caring, friendly atmosphere where they thrive as engaged members of the community. Fort Kent, one of Maine’s northernmost towns, is the beginning of two highways: U.S. Route 1 and Route 11. The famous scenic U.S. Route 1 starts in Fort Kent and passes through the easternmost towns of Maine bordering Canada and ends up in Key West, Florida. The town also serves as a gateway to the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. From the Allagash Waterway through a forested wilderness, an adventurous canoe trip will take one down to the St. John River. Excellent alpine and cross-country skiing are additional attractions of the community.
