Job Description The community specialist will be the local primary point of contact for volunteers, troop leaders, members, and the community at large in specific geographic areas. They are responsible for meeting assigned girl and adult new and renewal goals that support council-wide sustainable organizational health and increased participation in the Girl Scout Movement. In this key position, the community specialist will partner with community managers (volunteer positions) to foster strong and positive community relationships and grow volunteer involvement year over year. They will report to a regional membership manager The Role - Community Specialist The Bilingual Community Specialist is responsible for meeting assigned girl and adult new and renewal goals that support council-wide sustainable organizational health and increased participation in the Girl Scout Movement. They report to a Regional Membership Manager. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week that is benefits eligible. What you will be doing: Cultivate and maintain relationships with local community volunteers. Serve as a partner and advocate for each community. Initiate, develop and foster community relationships with youth-serving organizations, businesses, corporations, schools, and houses of worship in specific communities. Identify and recruit Girl Scouts and local volunteers to fill key community level positions, provide mentorship to new and existing troop leaders through the volunteer lifecycle, increase local engagement in Girl Scouts, and strengthen local Girl Scout events and activities. Facilitate new member recruitment and placement and provide the highest level of customer service as the first point of contact for prospective customers. Ensure Girl Scouting is available to all youth and adults by actively participating in developing environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude. The skills you will use Bilingual Spanish a must Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent relevant experience. (customer service/retail/membership sales) Minimum 3-5 years’ experience and demonstrated track record. Conversational Spanish (preferred, but not required) Project manager, strategic thinker, highly organized, demonstrated hands-on experience with proven ability to multitask, handle pressure, and meet deadlines. Ability to speak passionately and with conviction about the Girl Scout Mission and its importance to the public. Ability to keep difficult conversations on track, remain personable, and provide a positive experience throughout. Ability to motivate prospective partners, volunteers, and families to commit to Girl Scouts. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Technical computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook); customer relationship management systems (Salesforce); and social networking tools. Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and influence others to achieve results. Interacts successfully with volunteers, including selection, assignment of responsibilities, supervision, and recognition of accomplishments and release. Understands and applies budgeting principles to accurately prepare, integrate, and report on project and/or operational budgets. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Reliable vehicle and current insurance to travel as needed within the council jurisdiction Experience and sensitivity in working with diverse people Travel required to the following communities: Evergreen Park, Mount Greenwood, Morgan Park,  Beverly, Ashburn, Auburn Gresham, Garfield Ridge, Clearing, Archer Heights, West Elsdon, West Lawn,  Brighton Park, Gage Park, Chicago Lawn, South Lawndale, and Lower West Side Compensation:  $24.36/hr
