          "text": "<p><strong><u>JOB SUMMARY</u></strong></p><p>This paragraph summarizes the general nature, level and purpose of the job.</p><p>The Air Conditioning Mechanic installs, maintains, inspects and repairs refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, pneumatic and electronic controls, heating and cooling facilities and does general maintenance work in all HVAC equipment.</p><p><strong><u>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</u></strong></p><p>The essential functions listed are typical examples of work performed by positions in this job classification. They are not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, tasks, and responsibilities. Employees may also perform other duties as assigned.</p><p>Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.</p><p>Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.</p><p>* Assists other crafts on shutdowns involving heating and cooling, and power supply for refrigerated system.<br>\n* Does chemical treatment of water on the heating and cooling loop to prevent corrosion and scale formation.<br>\n* Makes necessary test to determine quality of water in the system.<br>\n* Does preventive maintenance work on HVAC equipment in accordance with the correct procedures and recommends changes in existing equipment and conditions for better operating efficiency.<br>\n* Installs new air conditioning units and systems, connecting the systems to required services and testing for proper operation.<br>\n* Installs, calibrates, and maintains manual, automatic pneumatic and electronic controls on all HVAC equipment.<br>\n* Obtains assistance when necessary on complicated electronics or pneumatic controls.<br>\n* Maintains tools, equipment and work area assigned.<br>\n* Prepares requisitions for supplies or materials required for given, authorized work in accordance with established procedures.<br>\n* Performs welding and brazing, and soldering on HVAC equipment in accordance with recognized and proper procedures.<br>\n* Repairs, maintains, and diagnoses problems regarding centralized air handling units for both electrical and pneumatic controls, including refrigerated air conditioning units, and walk in boxes, cold rooms and chillers for certain areas.<br>\n* Responds to complaints for heating or cooling and makes adjustments to bring it up to the necessary comfort levels as required by the occupants.<br>\n* Tests and balances the heating, cooling, ventilating, and air conditioning to conform to the proper specifications and code requirements.</p>",

          "text": "<p><strong><u>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</u></strong></p><p>Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.</p><p><strong>Education: </strong>High School Diploma or GED equivalent.<br>\n<strong>Experience: </strong>Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.</p><p><strong>License/Certification:</strong></p><ul><li>EPA608 - HVAC Universal Cert by Environment Protection Agency</li><li>or</li><li>HVAC Freon Certification by Environment Protection Agency</li></ul><p><strong><u>KNOWLEDGE</u></strong></p><p>These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education or licensure/certification.</p><p>* Ability to adapt to and deal with change and ambiguity.<br>\n* Ability to operate standard tools, instruments and equipment used on the job.<br>\n* Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines.<br>\n* Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.<br>\n* Ability to solve problems and identify solutions.<br>\n* Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job.<br>\n* Ability to work in a fast paced work environment.<br>\n* Ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization.<br>\n* Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.<br>\n* Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility.<br>\n* Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and repair.</p><p><strong><u>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</u></strong></p><p>The Physical Requirements and Working Conditions in which the job is typically performed are available from the Occupational Health Department.
