About the Role If you’re a strong writer who thrives on turning impact into compelling stories—and you’re organized enough to keep multiple deadlines moving without dropping the ball—this role is built for you. The Private Grants & Development Support Senior Specialist plays a key role in advancing private fundraising efforts by leading grant writing, reporting, and development coordination. This position is hands-on and execution-focused, ensuring high-quality submissions, strong donor communications, and consistent follow-through. You’ll work closely with program staff, Development, and Marketing & Communications to strengthen proposals, track outcomes, and support meaningful partnerships that fuel Habitat Charlotte Region’s mission. What You’ll Do Private Grants (60%) Lead the writing and submission of Letters of Inquiry (LOIs), grant proposals, and funding applications for private institutional funders Manage grant reporting and ensure all deliverables are accurate and submitted on time Track deadlines and coordinate with internal teams to keep projects moving forward Maintain and update case statements, boilerplate language, and impact data in collaboration with program staff Development Support (40%) Maintain donor database records and generate reports to support fundraising strategy Assist with donor stewardship and engagement efforts, including events and communications Conduct ongoing prospect research to identify new funding opportunities Draft donor communications, presentations, and profiles tailored to specific audiences Partner with Marketing & Communications to deliver on donor benefits and create compelling content Support special projects and broader development efforts as needed Qualifications What You Bring Experience 2–3 years of experience in nonprofit grant writing, fundraising, or related work Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Experience with donor databases such as Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or similar systems preferred Skills Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills—you can take complex information and make it clear and persuasive Strong attention to detail and organization—you don’t miss deadlines or small errors Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Abilities Able to manage multiple priorities and shift focus as needed without losing momentum Collaborative mindset—you work well across teams and functions Reliable, professional, and aligned with Habitat’s mission and values Work Environment & Physical Requirements Primarily office-based role Participate in local travel to support meetings with prospective funders, presentations, job site visits, and trainings; position requires use of a personal vehicle for business purposes. Ability to work at a computer for extended periods (up to 8 hours/day) Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region is an Equal Opportunity Employer and a drug-free workplace.
