The Job Coach will develop and maintain a working relationship with our Internship partners.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>About NLU's PACE Program:</strong></p>\n<p>Path to Academics, Community and Employment (P.A.C.E) is a three-year, post-secondary certificate program designed to meet the transitional needs for young adults with multiple intellectual, learning and developmental disabilities.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>P.A.C.E. at NLU Students</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Learn, work, and play in the vibrant city of Chicago</li>\n <li>Live in apartments at University Center in the heart of downtown</li>\n <li>Gain real life work experience during their community based internships</li>\n <li>Successfully travel independently using public transportation</li>\n <li>Are involved in a variety of clubs and student life activities</li>\n <li>Make meaningful connections with the Chicagoland community by participating in service learning projects</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Essential Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Provides direct instruction to students at their internship sites.</li>\n <li>Teaches up to three functional academic courses per term related to employment, employment concentration electives, or others as assigned based on program needs.</li>\n <li>Completes student records, logs, and reports as required, including mentoring and assisting students with Portfolio preparation.</li>\n <li>Participates in weekly employment team meetings, as well as departmetn and university training events, as required.</li>\n <li>Assists in work site development, problem solving conferences dealing with field work issues of those who have violated procedures or are otherwise in difficulty.</li>\n <li>Assists with planning and implementing appreciation events and supporting student interviewing.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree required in Vocational Rehabilitation, Special Education, Human Services field, or related field with relevant experience. Master’s degree preferred.</li>\n <li>3-5 years of previous experience in workforce or related field.</li>\n <li>Must be able to be flexible with work hours, including weekend and evening hours.</li>\n <li>Will require some travel on public transportation.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel Requirements:</strong> </p>\n<p>Ability to move or lift boxes up to 50 lbs. Constant computer work/data entry. Heavy phone usage, with long periods of sitting and standing. Travel on public transportation. High percentage of time working with students and staff in a meeting format.  The PACE program is a non-traditional work environment. Must be prepared for local travel. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
