Darwin Homes was backed by top Silicon Valley venture capital (Khosla, Fifth Wall) and was acquired by Pagaya Technologies, a publicly traded company, in early 2023. Pagaya is an AI/ML data technology company with offices in Tel Aviv, New York, and Austin. role The Role We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and hands-on Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance operations of our rental portfolio. This role is critical in ensuring our properties are safe, well-maintained, and meet quality standards that exceed tenant expectations. This is a contract role with no more than 40 hours per week of work available, but that will fluctuate with demand, and there is no guarantee of hours. What You'll Do Maintenance Oversight: Coordinate and supervise all aspects of property maintenance and repairs for a portfolio of single-family homes. Vendor Management: Source, vet, and manage relationships with third-party contractors and service providers to ensure quality work, timely completion, and cost-efficiency. Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to proactively address property upkeep and reduce emergency repairs. Work Order Management: Receive, prioritize, assign, and track maintenance requests using our property management software. Inspections: Conduct regular property inspections (move-in, move-out, seasonal, annual) to identify maintenance needs and ensure lease compliance. Budget Management: Assist in preparing and managing maintenance budgets, including approval and tracking of expenses. Emergency Response: Serve as the first point of contact for maintenance emergencies; coordinate after-hours or urgent repair response. Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and company standards. Team Leadership: Supervise in-house maintenance staff, assigning tasks and evaluating performance where applicable. Requirements Experience: 5+ years of maintenance or facilities management experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Residential property maintenance experience strongly preferred. Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and appliance repair. Technology: Proficient in property management or work order systems (e.g., AppFolio, Buildium, Propertyware, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite. Licenses: Valid driver’s license required; certifications in HVAC, plumbing, or other trades are a plus. Soft Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Availability: Must be available for on-call duty on a rotational basis, including nights and weekends.
