Date: 06/18/2026 Title: Assistant Athletic Trainer Description :  Hartwick College is excited to expand our Sports Medicine staff and hire a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer to join our collaborative healthcare team. This 10-month position supports 21 NCAA Division III varsity programs, including football. This position is immediately hiring until position is filled. This role is part of a collaborative Sports Medicine team that values continuity of care, shared clinical decision-making, and the opportunity to work with a variety of sport programs. Structured onboarding and mentoring are provided to support early-career athletic trainers and continued growth. Our growing medical model emphasizes shared responsibility, continuity of care, and an interdisciplinary approach to student-athlete health and well-being. Hartwick Sports Medicine is committed to a collaborative, holistic, and student-centered model of care in which athletic trainers work closely with the Head Athletic Trainer, fellow Assistant Athletic Trainer, Occupational Therapist, team physicians, and campus health partners. The NCAA Division III environment at Hartwick fosters meaningful connections, allowing athletic trainers to practice in a relationship-centered setting where the student-athlete experience comes first. Responsibilities : The Assistant Athletic Trainer will collaborate within a comprehensive Sports Medicine team to deliver high-quality athletic training services that support the health, safety, performance, and overall well-being of Hartwick’s student-athletes. Responsibilities include: Provide daily injury prevention, on-site evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athletes Provide emergency medical evaluation, care, and injury triage during practices, home contests, and selected away competitions Work cooperatively with team physician(s), the Director of College Health Services, counseling and campus health providers, and coaching staff Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and required reports Coordinate pre-participation physical examinations for all student-athletes Communicate effectively with coaches and administrators regarding student-athlete status and participation Assist with the supervision and education of student assistants and interns Assist in maintaining inventory, ordering supplies, and supporting budget management for the athletic training department Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional policies and best practices Assist with the implementation and annual review of concussion management plans, emergency action plans, and substance education initiatives Serve as a healthcare advocate for student-athletes, supporting access to both physical and mental health resources Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism, serving as a positive role model, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and contributing to a positive and respectful Sports Medicine culture. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer and/or Director of Athletics as needed. Participate in significant campus activities including Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement Weekend. Comply with all Federal, State, local, NCAA, Empire 8 Conference, College Department, regulations, rules, policies and procedures. As a college representative, this person is expected to comport themselves in a professional manner at all times, both on and off campus. No inappropriate relationships with students. Qualifications :  Minimum requirements for this position are a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a CAATE-accredited athletic training program.  National Athletic Trainer’s Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). New York State athletic training licensure or eligibility for licensure.  CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification.  Collegiate athletic training experience preferred. Effective written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills Proficiency with electronic medical documentation and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team Availability for weekday later afternoons, evenings, and weekends, with travel as required Serve as role models and leaders within the athletic training environment and show the ability to adapt to the daily needs of a dynamic NCAA Division III athletics program.  A thorough understanding of NCAA regulations related to sports medicine is preferred Candidates who have recently obtained BOC certification are encouraged to apply.
