You'll be the face of our café, creating memorable experiences for each customer.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Essential Functions</strong></p>\n<p>To perform this job successfully, a Barista must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, blended coffee, and tea, to patrons; correctly customizes orders as requested.</li>\n <li>Describes product details to customers in partnership with Onyx coffee.</li>\n <li>Receives and processes customer payments.</li>\n <li>Serves prepared baked goods including pastries.</li>\n <li>Ensures customer service stations are properly stocked with paper products or beverage preparation items.</li>\n <li>Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas.</li>\n <li>Cleans and sanitizes service and seating areas.</li>\n <li>Ensures proper functioning of freezers, refrigerators, and heating by routinely checking temperatures in that equipment.</li>\n <li>Stocks supplies or retail products; may inventory, order, or receive products as directed.</li>\n <li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li>\n <li>Accurately handle POS transactions and orders, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in a high-paced setting.</li>\n <li>Maintain a friendly and engaging attitude while interacting with customers and fellow team members.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills.</li>\n <li>Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team with internal departments, external vendors, suppliers, and customers.</li>\n <li>Self-motivated and able to make decisions and exercise prudent judgement with minimal guidance.</li>\n <li>Experience with POS systems such as Toast, Square, Shopify or similar a plus.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with ability to learn in house programs.</li>\n <li>Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices.</li>\n <li>Good memory to manage multiple orders simultaneously and recall faces, names, and preferences of frequent patrons.</li>\n <li>Ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently, and kindly.</li>\n <li>Flexibility to work nights and holidays as required by business needs.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Education/Experience</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must successfully complete training in food preparation, food service skills, and customer service procedures.</li>\n <li>1-2 years of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within hospitality or food service.</li>\n <li>CA Food Handler’s Permit required.</li>\n <li>Experience working in both counter-service and full-service settings is a plus.</li>\n <li>Previous barista training or willingness to learn espresso and coffee preparation is preferred.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Personal Competencies</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Self-Development:</strong> Actively seeks new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels. </p>\n<p><strong>Relationship management and Teamwork</strong>: The ability to leverage interpersonal skills to establish rapport and develop relationships as part of a multifunctional team in a fast-paced, collaborative and deadline driven environment. </p>\n<p><strong>Time Management:</strong> Ability to multi-task to meet goals, good time management skills and ability to take ownership for project deliverables. </p>\n<p><strong>Communications & Problem Solving</strong>: Ability to remain optimistic and enthusiastic while creatively solving problems.
