RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis Review key balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigate fluctuations, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial results Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules Coordinate the annual external audit process, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation Develop and maintain accounting policies, close procedures, and internal controls to support accurate financial reporting Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability across the accounting function Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff through coaching, goal setting, and ongoing performance management Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, payroll, HR, and operations to resolve accounting matters and support business initiatives Support special projects, system enhancements, and process improvement initiatives as needed BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or related field 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in public accounting and/or industry 3+ years of people management or supervisory experience REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Strong technical accounting knowledge with demonstrated ability to apply US GAAP in a complex business environment Proven ability to manage and execute the full close cycle with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement Experience preparing financial statements and audit-ready schedules for external review Track record of developing and maintaining internal controls and accounting policies in a structured, fast-paced environment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and communicate findings clearly to non-accounting stakeholders Experience managing and developing junior accounting staff, with a collaborative and coaching-oriented leadership style PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license strongly preferred Combination of public accounting (Big 4 or regional firm) and industry accounting experience Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced environment with evolving processes and systems Experience with manufacturing, inventory accounting, or cost accounting Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and financial reporting tools Background in aerospace, defense, or government contracting preferred Familiarity with cost accounting standards (CAS) or government contract accounting a plus ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time Ability to use a computer to complete assignments Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and telepresence Ability to pick up to 50lbs While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
