Description

Join our dedicated team as a School-Based Counselor, where you will play a vital role in supporting the mental health and well-being of students. You will work collaboratively within a dynamic educational environment to provide essential therapeutic services, fostering a nurturing atmosphere that promotes emotional growth and academic success. The Behavioral Health Consultant Program is a year-round program providing brief mental health screening and individual, group and family mental health counseling services in middle school settings across the state of Delaware. Provide intervention for students and families that address the student’s behavior and family issues that impact school performance and social and emotional development. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on student assessments and needs. Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and parents to support student well-being and academic success. Maintain accurate and confidential records of therapy sessions and student progress. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student cases and develop comprehensive support strategies. Educate and train school staff on mental health awareness and best practices for supporting students. Advocate for students’ mental health needs and connect them with external resources and services when necessary. Provide assessment, planning, counseling/therapy, referrals, advocacy, and collateral contacts. Establish comprehensive plans for services to ensure student and family needs are met. Conduct school based group counseling/therapy using an evidenced-based model. Provide crisis assessment, clinical interventions, psycho-educational groups and training to school professionals, parents, guardians and family members. Adhere to an evidenced-based social work model, principles and practices. Document all screenings, assessments and consultations in appropriate database. Travel required to attend meetings and training. Full-time with benefits.
