Position Description Summary/Purpose :
The College of Science and Society at the University of Bridgeport seeks part-time Adjunct Faculty to teach undergraduate Anatomy and Physiology lecture and/or laboratory courses.
Adjunct faculty report to the Department of Biology and work closely with the Associate Chair of Biology and the Lead Instructor to ensure consistency across sections. Courses follow a shared syllabus and shared exams, and all instructional materials are provided.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Teach assigned Physiology/Anatomy and Physiology lecture and/or lab sections ( see below for course details and meeting times)
Introductory Anatomy and Physiology I (BIOL-113): Lecture course, non-major
Schedule: Tuesday/Thursday, 6:00 PM – 7:15 PM
Intro Anatomy & Phys II Lab (BIOL-114L): Laboratory course, non-major
Currently available sections:
Tuesday 3:30 PM – 5:20 PM
Tuesday 5:30 PM – 7:20 PM
Tuesday 7:30 PM – 9:20 PM
Additional sections may be offered.
The incoming adjunct may teach one or more sections, depending on availability.
General Physiology (BIOL-211): Lecture and laboratory course, biology majors
Lecture: Tuesday/Thursday, 1:30 PM – 2:45 PM
Lab: Thursday, 3:00 PM – 5:45 PM
This course focuses on the physiological and biochemical regulation of body systems , with laboratory activities emphasizing experimentation and data interpretation.
Implement courses as designed in approved syllabi
Administer and grade shared quizzes, exams, and lab assessments
Maintain attendance and academic records
Upload grades to Canvas and University systems
Communicate with students in a timely and professional manner
Provide academic support via email and scheduled meetings as needed
Meet all course and semester deadlines
Start Date: January 12, 2026
Other Functions :
Collaborate with the Associate Chair and Lead Instructor
Participate in coordinated assessment and grading practices
Perform related instructional duties as assigned
Stay current within the field of Anatomy and Physiology
Knowledge, Ability and Skill :
Ability to teach effectively in in-person and/or online formats
Familiarity with Canvas or similar learning management systems
Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Commitment to high academic standards and student-centered teaching
Ability to work collaboratively within a structured course framework
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications :
The successful candidate should have:
Master’s degree in Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, or a related discipline
Experience with undergraduate lab instruction
Demonstrated ability to manage grading and course administration
Applicants MUST submit a resume/CV AND a letter of interest (cover letter).
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD, MSN, DNP, PA, or DPT
College-level A&P teaching experience
Clinical or allied health professional experience
