This position is remote until the office opens in or around Bryan, TX on or before February 2026, after which time it will be a 100% on site role. Come join us at Terrestrial Energy, a US developer of advanced, Generation IV nuclear reactors.  We are growing our workforce to develop and deploy our Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) small modular nuclear plant to provide cost-competitive, clean firm heat and power to industry. The Company has recently completed a merger creating a publicly listed operating company  (NASDAQ “IMSR”), to secure the capital resources for our next growth phase.  With the current alignment of US Federal and State government, as well as industry interest in Small Modular Reactor (SMR) and advanced reactor technologies such as Terrestrial Energy’s IMSR, there is today a unique and compelling opportunity to participate in the execution of the company’s growth business plan. The Company is building a team of high-performing business professionals and leaders in engineering, R&D, product management and business development areas at our Charlotte, North Carolina headquarters and future project sites.  We are looking for talented individuals who can help build the organization, processes, and goal-orientated corporate culture to lead the company in our expansion.  We are seeking people who: Have US market experience and perspectives bringing good judgement and innovative approaches to problem solving and business plan execution. Have demonstrated exceptional performance in past engineering projects. Offer exceptional leadership and team building capabilities. Have a deep understanding of the requirements for advanced reactor development. Can assist in the creation of the discipline and organized company structure, and contribute to a culture of excellence, necessary for the development and deployment of the Company’s IMSR plant. Can thrive in a fast growing and opportunity business environment, and are capable of flexibility and adaptability at a time of organizational change. Have the specific skillset and experience for the following role: The  Mechanical Engineer , under the direction of the Mechanical Engineering Manager, is primarily responsible for design and development of their assigned mechanical systems through the Detailed Engineering phase.  Other responsibilities include: Prepare calculations, analyses and assessment documents for the development of the system and equipment design Prepare the system classification, design requirements and design summary report in accordance with applicable design guides, procedures, and codes and standards Participate in and contribute to design reviews Communicate and work with various technical disciplines to understand system design(s) and interfacing requirements Coordinate and interface with the plant layout lead in the development of 3D CAD for the responsible mechanical systems Contribute to timely resolution of mechanical design challenges and address risks Coordinate with, and support work of, other disciplines Conduct presentations to interdisciplinary team and external stakeholders Interface with external vendors, design agencies, technical experts, clients and regulators as required Oversee and collaborate with external vendors, carry-out vendor deliverable reviews Provide input to schedules, cost estimates Responsible for ensuring that the budget, timing, and quality of engineering work is executed as required Report progress of project work on a regular basis Mentor junior team members Other duties as assigned Core Competencies Mechanical Engineering Communication Critical Thinking Decision Making Leadership Planning and Organizing Problem Solving Results Orientation Team player with the ability to collaborate and interact with other groups Flexible and adaptable to change Requirements Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or alternate degree in a related field PE Certification, or eligible to obtain a PE Certification Minimum of 8 years of work experience in the design of mechanical systems, preferably within the nuclear industry Demonstrated success in project delivery and the execution of mechanical design methods Expert or working knowledge of nuclear pressure boundary codes including ASME Section III Division 1, CSA N285.0 and ASME B31.1 Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines Exceptional interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills Assets Expert or working knowledge of nuclear pressure boundary code ASME Section III Division 5 Working knowledge of ANSYS Mechanical, Creo Parametric, or other 3D modelling and FEA software Proficient in CSA nuclear standards such as N285, N286, N299 Project Management experience Industry experience in designing systems and components subject to extreme environmental conditions Design experience with reactor shutdown or cooling systems Qualified as per ASME Section III Appendix XXIII and experienced in Design Specifications, Overpressure Protection Reports, and Design Reports Benefits Extended Healthcare Plan (Medical, Disability, Dental & Vision), + an additional Health Spending Account A vacation policy designed to support your work-life balance EAP Programs available to you and your family $500 Wellness Subsidy Annual Performance Review Paid United Way Volunteer Days – A chance to give back!
