Native Council of Nova Scotia Job Opportunity – Term Position until March 31, 2027 Motive Power Direct Entry Program Job Title: Project Coordinator Position Summary The Project Coordinator supports the delivery of Motive Power Direct Entry training programs funded by the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency (NSAA) and delivered by the Aboriginal Peoples Training and Employment Commission (APTEC).  Project Coordinator will report directly to the Chief Programs Officer. This role is responsible for coordinating two key training streams: the Tire Maintenance Program and the Collision Repair Prepper Program , designed to prepare Indigenous participants for entry into apprenticeship pathways and employment in the automotive sector. The Project Coordinator ensures programs are delivered efficiently, align with industry and apprenticeship standards, and support positive participant outcomes. Key Responsibilities Program Coordination & Delivery Coordinate with the Automotive Sector Council on the daily operations of the Tire Maintenance and Collision Repair Prepper programs Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and deliverables in alignment with funding requirements Support implementation of curriculum aligned within the Motive Power trades and apprenticeship pathways Ensure programs meet the standards and expectations of the NSAA Promote the Tire Maintenance Program and the Collison Repair Prepper Program to Indigenous people across the province through information sessions, zone meetings, social media, partnership networks and other means available Maintain accurate program documentation and records Gather feedback from participants, instructors, and employers Identify and implement improvements to enhance program effectiveness and cultural relevance Stakeholder & Partner Engagement Coordinate employer engagement, including site visits, mentorship, and job placement opportunities Work collaboratively with the Automotive Sector Council in the delivery of the training programs and work experience for the participants Build relationships with automotive industry partners to support employment pathways Participant Support Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of participants, with a focus on culturally supportive practices Monitor attendance, progress, and engagement Support participants in overcoming barriers to completion and employment Reporting Ensure program delivery complies with funding agreements and reporting requirements Track information such as enrollment, completion rates, certifications, and employment outcomes Prepare reports for Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency and internal stakeholders Qualifications Education & Experience 2 to 4 years of experience in program or project coordination, preferably in training or workforce development Experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations is a strong asset Background in automotive, tire services, or collision repair and knowledge of the Nova Scotia apprenticeship system is an asset Skills & Competencies Strong organizational and coordination skills Effective communication and relationship-building abilities Cultural competency and ability to work respectfully with Indigenous communities Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project tracking tools Other Requirements Understanding of apprenticeship systems and skilled trades pathways Knowledge of workplace safety practices in automotive environments Ability to travel within Nova Scotia as required Frequent interaction with participants, community partners, and employers Working Conditions Working hours – Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Occasional evening or weekend work depending on program delivery Salary Range - $25.00/hr - $26.65/hr for 35 hours per week.
