We are currently seeking a skilled and safety-focused <strong>Senior Transformer Field Service Technician</strong> to support field operations across Canada and USA.</p>\n<p>This role is ideal for an experienced technician with strong expertise in transformer maintenance, oil processing, and field diagnostics who thrives in a travel-based, hands-on environment.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Perform inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of power and distribution transformers</li>\n <li>Identify and repair oil leaks; replace gaskets, seals, and related components</li>\n <li>Repair or replace radiators, bushings, and auxiliary transformer components</li>\n <li>Conduct internal transformer inspections and perform maintenance on load tap changers (LTCs)</li>\n <li>Operate vacuum dehydration and oil processing systems, including filtration, reclamation, and replacement</li>\n <li>Execute transformer vacuum fill and assemblies</li>\n <li>Perform electrical testing Neta ATS and MTS standard</li>\n <li>Support commissioning, preventive maintenance, and outage response activities</li>\n <li>Maintain accurate service documentation and reports using digital tools (e.g., PowerDB)</li>\n <li>Follow all company, client, and regulatory safety procedures and standards</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or GED </li>\n <li>Post-secondary technical training preferred (Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Red Seal Electrician, Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, Motor Winder, or related trade/technical background considered an asset)</li>\n <li>5+ years of related transformer field service experience </li>\n <li>Strong knowledge of transformer maintenance practices and oil processing</li>\n <li>Proven experience performing internal inspections and repairs of transformers</li>\n <li>Experience with vacuum filling, oil handling, and transformer assembly</li>\n <li>Familiarity with electrical test equipment</li>\n <li>NETA Certification (Level II–IV) or equivalent Canadian experience/ability to obtain certification is preferredProficiency with basic computer applications (MS Excel, email, reporting tools); PowerDB experience an asset</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Work Conditions & Physical Requirements</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Field-based role requiring travel to client sites across Canada & USA up to 80%</li>\n <li>Ability to work extended hours, overtime, and on-call rotations, including weekends/holidays as needed</li>\n <li>Must be physically capable of lifting up to 34 kg (75 lbs), climbing, crawling, and working in industrial environments</li>\n <li>Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical/fit-for-duty assessment</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Employment Requirements</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Valid Canadian driver’s license with a clean driving record</li>\n <li>Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances (e.g., background check, site access)</li>\n <li>Valid passport; TWIC card considered an asset (for cross-border work)</li>\n <li>Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing (where permitted by law and job site requirements)</li>\n</ul>\n<p>What We Offer</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Competitive compensation aligned with Canadian industry benchmarks</li>\n <li>Overtime eligibility and travel-related allowances</li>\n <li>Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, etc.)</li>\n <li>Ongoing training, certifications, and career development opportunities</li>\n <li>Opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects across North America</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>Equal Opportunity Employer</em><em>Shermco Industries is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
