This role includes troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and contamination control standards.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Knowledge and Skill Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>General knowledge of engines, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.</li><li>Ability to use diagnostic software, laptops, and precision measuring tools.</li><li>Familiarity with basic hand tools, air tools, and rigging equipment.</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to complete accurate documentation and follow safety procedures.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualification(s):</strong></p><ul><li>Forklift and man lift certification preferred.</li><li>MSHA certification may be required.</li></ul><p><strong>Education Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>High school diploma or GED required.</li><li>Technical training or equivalent experience in truck or heavy equipment repair preferred.</li></ul><p><strong>Essential Job Functions:</strong></p><ul><li>Promptly review work schedule, check equipment and supplies, and prepare for operations at the start of shift.</li><li>Determine technical service problems of engines or truck equipment and verify findings against manufacturer specifications.</li><li>Prepare a repair plan and consult with co-workers or lead technician as needed.</li><li>Order or obtain necessary parts from stock room.</li><li>Perform diagnosis and troubleshooting, progressing in engine disassembly and reassembly with supervision as needed.</li><li>Install, replace, and repair engines, truck equipment, or components according to specifications.</li><li>Meet standard job expectations for established tasks.</li><li>Test parts or equipment and perform quality checks after work is complete.</li><li>Pressure wash parts and equipment when necessary.</li><li>Complete all required paperwork accurately and timely.</li><li>Perform general housekeeping duties and secure equipment at end of shift.</li><li>Follow contamination control and HAZMAT regulations.</li><li>Complete assigned training and certifications as required.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p><strong>Leadership Responsibilities:</strong></p><p>This position does not include supervisory responsibilities but requires accountability for quality repairs and adherence to safety standards.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Preferred Experience and Skills:</strong></p><ul><li>One to three years of experience in truck or heavy equipment repair.</li><li>Ability to provide accurate information for quoting and job documentation.</li><li>Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.</li></ul><p><strong>Physical and Mental Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull heavy components.</li><li>Manual dexterity for handling tools and operating equipment.</li><li>Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, and kneel for extended periods.</li><li>Must pass company physical and drug screening.</li><li>Ability to wear PPE and meet safety-sensitive position requirements.</li></ul><p><strong>Work Environment:</strong></p><ul><li>Shop environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, and noise.</li><li>Standard work schedule with occasional overtime as needed.</li><li>Noise levels may vary from moderate to loud.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Why Stowers Machinery?</strong><br> At Stowers Machinery, you’re not just taking a job—you’re joining a team that powers progress across East Tennessee as a trusted Caterpillar dealer.
