Description

Core Wo rk Hours- 1st Shift POSITION SUMMARY Supervise and perform various duties in accordance with normal day-to-day material handling function for the warehouse operation. These activities primarily overseeing the material handling staff as they safely and efficiently: unload trucks, transport material across the Knoxville campus, within specific facilities, put materials away in logical and/or designated locations, pull parts for production orders accurately, wrapping loads for shipment, and load internal and external trucks for shipping including verifying paperwork and labels. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Develop work instructions, work with Warehouse Manager to develop, and communicate performance objectives, train & coach employees, and deliver (verbal and written) performance feedback to direct reports as the perform routine day-to-day duties assigned to the material handling team. Inclusive of unloading, loading, point to point transportation of material across the Knoxville campus, within specific Knoxville facilities, pulling parts from locations to accurately fill orders. Act as a role model for material handling co-workers as the team strives to execute day to day tasks according to the work instructions and/or company policies. Partner with Shipping & Receiving, Quality, Inventory Control and/or Production Leads so that Material Handling co-workers prioritize actions to put away and pull parts to/from warehouse locations. Partner with EHS and Maintenance Teams to develop and maintain material handling training and PM checklists to ensure the safe and efficient operation of powered industrial lift trucks and inter-pant transportation equipment. Always exhibit good interpersonal skills and a pleasant demeanor. Assist with all planned physical inventories by communicating objectives and assigning team to preparing inventory and ensure proper labeling of storage locations and product. Perform work requiring lifting, pushing, and pulling of materials. Some of these may be repetitive tasks and weigh up to 50 pounds. Handle final shipping responsibilities: wrapping product, verification of quantities vs. documentation, making labels, loading trucks, etc. as required. Ability to work overtime as needed. RESPONSIBILITIES – Safety Earn and maintain Training, Safety and Operational Certifications for powered industrial lift trucks / equipment (PIT), inter-plant transportation truck and trailer vehicle, and dock safety equipment. Inclusive of training co-workers on the appropriate performance of daily PM checklists and maintenance required on assigned equipment. Identify and report safety issues, near misses, and maintenance issues as they arise to the Warehouse Manager. Document and report any property damage, safety incidents (including near misses) or material damages immediately to your Supervisor / Management. Including partnering with EHS co-workers to conduct investigations and communicate to direct reports details of the incident and corrective actions. RESPONSIBILITIES – Quality To ensure Kelvion’s Standard of Excellence, which includes quality, is incorporated into every product we produce. Will adhere to all quality requirements that are inside of the Quality Management system. Understand, comply with, and provide coaching and training to your Material Handling co-workers on all facets of the 5S and Safety Program. RESPONSIBILITIES – Corporate / Site Follow all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to Global Code of Business Principles, Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, Operational Framework To be part of & to promote Knoxville Standard of Excellence which incorporates high standard of ethical behavior, to promote a culture of honesty and integrity, and one team culture. All employees are expected to follow government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES) Language Skills: Fluent in English to read and comprehend written guidelines and instructions and perform basic verbal and written communication. Fluent in Spanish a plus. Computer skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams and ability to learn various functions assigned within the ERP (Syteline, SAP or other) manufacturing system. Communications Skills: Ability to receive, listen, and understand in-coming messages (Teams and Telecom), verbal, and written communication from Shipping & Receiving, Inventory Control, and Quality co-workers, outside transportation firms and supplier documentation. Reasoning: Ability to apply general rules to determine resolutions of requests and be able to process numbers as needed to put away and pull material per transaction requirements. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels) Valid driver’s license and safe driving record 5+ years prior experience in shipping, inventory control, material handling, and/or receiving in a manufacturing / factory environment, with prior supervisory experience preferred. Must be able to productively operate turret and stand up/reach forklifts in narrow locations safely & efficiently. Basic math and reading skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
