The School of Education seeks to recruit faculty who enthusiastically support the University’s

The School of Education is comprised of five academic departments including Educational Leadership, Teacher Education, Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, and Counseling. The Department of Teacher Education offers an AA in Early Childhood Multicultural Education, and BA concentrations in the areas of Early Childhood Multicultural Education Age 3 to Grade 3, Early Childhood Multicultural Education Birth to Four, Secondary Education (Minor) and in Special Education/Elementary Education.
Specific teaching responsibilities will be commensurate with candidate’s qualifications, but may focus on the individual’s specialization area(s). The successful candidate may teach day, evening, weekend and online courses.
In addition to teaching a normal teaching load of both undergraduate courses (18 credit hours in the first academic year and 24 credit hours thereafter), the selected candidate will be expected to serve as advisor to undergraduate students.
Selected candidate will be expected to participate in department and university committees; develop and maintain collaborative and professional partnerships with local schools and districts; hold office hours as required; conduct scholarly activities such as research in a particular field of knowledge, and submit for publication and/or presentation at professional conferences.
Salary range of $64,000-$75,000.
The person selected for this position will teach Teacher Education courses particularly in Math and Science (STEM) subject areas (undergraduate) with strong field experience components, supervise student teachers, advise students, assist with recruitment and retention initiatives, engage in scholarly activity, collaborate with PK-12 and university faculty and provide service to the community.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D) in Teacher Education related to Math and Science (STEM) Education. ABD will be considered.
Licensure: Current Teaching License (or eligible to apply).
P-12 Teaching Experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Expertise in one of the following areas: math, science, STEM and technology.
-Experience in teaching and a research record on questions related to math/science or STEM education on questions of equity and access.
-Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse students.
-Demonstrated successful experience forming partnerships with schools/districts.
-Experience designing and teaching synchronous/asynchronous online courses.
-Three years of demonstrated successful experience teaching in a P-12 public school setting.
-Desire to engage in the development of innovative educational programs in collaboration with local school district partners and community.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
-Proficiency teaching and communicating with colleagues and students via electronic and digital modalities.
-Proficiency in the integration of technology to support teaching and learning.
-Proficiency in Desire to Learn or other Learning Management System.
-Proficiency with student advisement/information systems (e.g. Degree Audit and Banner)

ABD will be considered.<br />\r\nLicensure: Current Teaching License (or eligible to apply).<br />\r\nP-12 Teaching Experience.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p>\r\n\r\n<p>-Expertise in one of the following areas: math, science, STEM and technology.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>-Experience in teaching and a research record on questions related to math/science or STEM education on questions of equity and access.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>-Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse students.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>-Demonstrated successful experience forming partnerships with schools/districts.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>-Experience designing and teaching synchronous/asynchronous online courses.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>-Three years of demonstrated successful experience teaching in a P-12 public school setting.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>-Desire to engage in the development of innovative educational programs in collaboration with local school district partners and community.</p>\r\n\r\n<br>\r\n\r\n<p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:</p>\r\n\r\n<br>\r\n\r\n<br>\r\n\r\n<p>-Proficiency teaching and communicating with colleagues and students via electronic and digital modalities.<br />\r\n-Proficiency in the integration of technology to support teaching and learning.<br />\r\n-Proficiency in Desire to Learn or other Learning Management System.<br />\r\n-Proficiency with student advisement/information systems (e.g. Degree Audit and Banner)</p>\r\n\r\n<br>\r\n\r\n<p>WORK LOCATIONS: Las Vegas, NM Campus</p>\r\n",
