Description: Working as a member of a highly collaborative team, the Director of Alumni Career Services for the Alan D. Marks Center for Career Services and Entrepreneurship is responsible for developing, administering, and leading a portfolio of programs that support professional development, community building, and career success for Juilliard’s alumni community in a rapidly changing arts world. A person who will be successful in this position should have experience in the performing arts and event curation, be an effective public speaker and presenter, and be adept at designing programming that supports a broad array of professional development outcomes in the arts. About the Alan D. Marks Center for Career Services and Entrepreneurship: Established in 2014, the Marks Center administers several programs that connect students and alumni to professional opportunities and resources. Current programming includes grant programs for students ($150k awarded annually), an online Career Portal, a gigging service called Hire Juilliard Performers program, an annual Entrepreneurship Symposium, curricular and co-curricular offerings (weekly during the academic year), and one-on-one career advising (900 appointments annually). The Marks Center also works closely with the Office of Community Engagement, which administers teaching and performance Fellowships and public-facing educational events serving 10,000 New Yorkers annually. The goal of all of these programs is to support Juilliard college students and alumni become communicative, socially responsible artists; to learn to serve the cultural needs of their communities; and to develop agency in their careers. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Community Engagement and Career Services and collaborates with the Director of Career Services, Director of Community Engagement, and Director of Hire Juilliard Performers. The role is supported by the Operations Manager for Community Engagement and Career Services, the Career Services Administrative Apprentice, and the Community Engagement Administrative Apprentice. The position frequently collaborates across the institution with the leadership of the Music, Dance, and Drama Divisions; the Development Office and its Office of Alumni Relations; the offices of EDIB and Non-discrimination/Title IX; and the Student Development team. Business hours for the office are Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm, and this role may require evening or weekend work, as well as occasional travel for alumni events. Hybrid schedules are available.
