    "requisitionDescription": "<div><link href=\"https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/[email protected]/css/froala_editor.pkgd.min.css\" rel=\"stylesheet\" type=\"text/css\">&nbsp;<link href=\"https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/[email protected]/css/froala_style.min.css\" rel=\"stylesheet\" type=\"text/css\"><div class=\"fr-view\"><p>Wiley College is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Police Officer position. &nbsp;Under general supervision, the police officer will serve as a commissioned law enforcement officer responsible for the protection, safety, and welfare of students, staff, and visitors and for the protection of College property. &nbsp;The duties of this position includes, but are not limited to:</p><ul><li>Exercises independent judgement within the limits prescribed by law, institutional rules and regulations, departmental policies and procedures, and those as directed by the Chief of Police or his designee.</li><li>Provides for the protection, safety, assistance and welfare of students, faculty, staff, visitors, and all within the area under the control and jurisdiction of Wiley College.</li><li>Remains alert of threats to the College, and takes action to prevent or remediate those threats and situations that come or are brought to the officer&#39;s attention.</li><li>Maintains a courteous and professional attitude when dealing with all members of the Wiley College community and its visitors.</li><li>Provides uniform patrol of the campus and its properties, by vehicle, golf cart, foot patrol, or bicycle.</li><li>Investigates reports of criminal activity, suspicious conditions and circumstances, and writes quality police reports regarding findings and activities.</li><li>Maintains the security of the College property by opening and closing buildings, identifying and taking corrective action on unsafe conditions and hazards in and on College owned properties.&nbsp;</li><li>Responds to various security, door, and environmental alarms.</li></ul><p>Qualifications</p><p>Possess a high school diploma or GED; never convicted, pled guilty, been on court-ordered community service, or deferred adjudication for a Class B misdemeanor; never been convicted of family or dating violence; never had a dishonorable discharge in the US Military; and firearm qualified or can be qualified.</p><p>Must be able to fulfill the duties of a police officer which includes, but not limited to: knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and ordinances, as well as law enforcement techniques and procedures; communicates well in speech and in writing; possesses good interpersonal skills; physically able to effect an arrest, subdue resisting individuals; walk and/or run short distances; walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time; must be available to work varying shifts, nights, and weekends; operate and maintain vehicles and equipment; recognize dangerous/hazardous situations; possess the mental acumen for exercising reasonable and sound judgement under stressful circumstances; work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures; work outside and in inclement weather, if necessary.</p><p>Certifications:</p><p>Licensed as a Texas peace officer through the Texas Commision on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).</p></div></div>\n",
