Clear Credential: $79,500.00 - $100,700.00 / year with sign on bonus of $16,000
Preliminary Credential: $68,900 / year with sign on bonus of $16,000
Intern Credential: $66,144 / year with sign on bonus of $3,500
Extras: $4,000 / year IEP Stipend

How You Will Make an Impact
The Special Education Teacher will teach in a personalized instructional environment, work with students and/or parents to determine and evaluate the student’s academic plan, manage, and provide services according to the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). This position involves collaboration with other instructional staff and school personnel and reports to the Principal or the designee.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: This job description is intended to accurately reflect the duties, responsibilities, and requirements of the position. It is not intended to be and should not be construed as an all-inclusive list of all the responsibilities, skills, or working conditions associated with this classification. Plan, organize and implement daily lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum.
Conduct pre- and post-testing using standardized tests for each student.
As a part of a team, write and implement goals as outlined in each student's IEP.
Schedule and chair Schedule, write, and chair IEP meetings including 30-day review IEP meetings for all students.
Responsible to manage a student’s behavior.
Demonstrate competency in all subject areas.
Participate in the identification of students with possible disabilities post intervention phase.
Provide direct student instruction.
Provide academic assessments.
Meet special education timeline requirements as specified by education code.
Collaborate with general education teachers.
Work with Special Education Program Specialists and school support staff to support student instruction.
Participate in authorized school district trainings, school events, and meetings.
Maintain documentation of communications with students, families, and other services providers.
Maintain documentation of daily activities.
Complete reports and forms as required.
Travel to other school sites to render Special Education teaching services.
Perform administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned. These may be changed or modified from time to time.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of California Teaching Standards.
Knowledge of core academic subject (s) assigned.
Knowledge of high school credits, graduation requirements, interventions, and alternative educational programs, including independent study.
Knowledge and understanding of Independent Study, Personal Learning, and Distance Learning education models.
Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies necessary for effective instruction of all student populations, including students at-risk of academic failure.
Ability to work effectively with students from diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability, and socioeconomic groups.
Ability to work effectively with parents, staff members, and community representatives in providing a rigorous educational program.
Ability to communicate effectively, including giving clear and concise instructions, using academic language, an appropriate delivery level, listening without bias, and providing proper feedback/reinforcement.
Ability to make independent judgments, meet deadlines and maintain accurate student records.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required.
Valid California credential Specialist with authorization for the Special Education disability and level assigned or intern eligible is required.
English Learner Authorization or eligible to obtain EL Authorization is required.
Autism Authorization is required or eligible to enroll and complete a Commission-approved professional preparation program in the special education specialty area requested, including successful completion of supervised field study is required.
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned is required.
Knowledge of Student Information Systems (SIS) and related Educational Systems.
Proficient level of skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other technology applications.
Ability to travel up to 5% In the performance of job duties are required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Vision : Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolong periods, prepare, or inspect documents and operate office equipment.
Hearing : Ability to hear average or typical conversations and receive ordinary information.
Speech : Ability to be understood in face-to-face communication, in person or virtually, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer.
Mental Demands : Ability to read, write, understand, interpret, and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work. Understand how to manage stress. high workflow management, high project coordination, and high people engagement.
Upper Body Mobility : Ability to use fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together, use hands to grasp, and manipulate small objects; twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
Strength : Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Environmental Requirements : Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors. Prolonged period sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Work in a moderate to high noise environment with frequent deadline pressures.
