    "description_html": "<div class=\"job_description\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><strong>TOTAL PUBLIC MEMBERS:</strong>&#160; &#160;14<br><strong>APPOINTMENT TYPE:</strong>&#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160;Appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of Council<br><strong>TERM LENGTH (YEARS):</strong>&#160; &#160; &#160; &#160;3<br><strong>RESIDENCY:</strong>&#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160;District residency required, with strong preference for representation from all 8 wards<br><strong>PAID BOARD:</strong>&#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160;No (all roles are voluntary)</span></span><br><br>&#160;<h1><u><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\">DESCRIPTION</span></span></strong></u></h1><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\">The Board shall regulate the practice of barbers, body artists, and cosmetologists, including specialty cosmetology practices such as braiding, electrolysis, esthetics, manicuring and others as the Mayor may from time to time establish by rule, instructors and managers of these practices, and owners of such facilities.</span></span><h1><u><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\">COMMISSION MEMBERSHIP</span></span></strong></u></h1><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\">The Board shall consist of the following 14 members:</span></span><ul><li><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\">3 barbers; </span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\">3 cosmetologists; </span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\">3 specialty cosmetologists;</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\">3 body artists; and</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\">2 consumer members.</span></span></li></ul>&#160;<h1><u><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\">QUALIFICATIONS</span></span></strong></u></h1><p><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\">Professional members shall have been engaged in one or more of the occupations regulated by the board for at least 3 years preceding appointment.<br><br>Consumer Members shall:</span></span></p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\">Be at least 18 years of age;&#160;</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\">Not be a practitioner of a profession or occupation supervised by that board, or in training to become one;&#160;</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\">Not have a household member who is a practitioner of a profession or occupation supervised by that board, or in training to become one; and&#160;</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\">Not own, operate, or be employed in or have a household member who owns, operates, or is employed in a business which has as its primary purpose the sale of goods or services to practitioners of a profession or occupation supervised by that board.</span></span></li></ul><p></p><h1><u><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\">TIME COMMITMENT</span></span></strong></u></h1><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\">The Board of Barber and Cosmetology meets monthly.</span></span><br><br><br><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', Times, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><em>If you are interested in an appointment to this board, please complete the appointment application and attach the required documentation.
