Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.</p><p style=\"font-size:12px;margin:4px 0;\"><strong>Licensure:</strong> Oncology Nursing Certification – Preferred</p><p style=\"font-size:12px;margin:4px 0;\"><strong>Additional Skills/Requirements Required:</strong> Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced and emotionally challenging environment.Knowledge of chemotherapy drugs, their administration, and potential side effects.Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant healthcare technology.</p><p style=\"font-size:12px;margin:4px 0;\"><strong>Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred:</strong> N/A</p><p style=\"font-size:11px;margin:4px 0;\"><strong>Competencies</strong></p><ul><li>Patient Assessment and Management of Care: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients before, during, and after infusion therapy to evaluate their overall health and response to treatment.<ul><li>Provide thorough education to patients and their caregivers on the purpose of infusion therapy, potential side effects, and self-care measures.</li><li>Work with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive comprehensive education and proper resources tailored to their care needs.</li></ul></li><li>Lab Testing and Result Management: Analyze and interpret laboratory reports related to patients' oncology status, ensuring timely communication of findings to the healthcare team.<ul><li>Monitor pertinent lab results to assess patients' eligibility and qualification for specific therapies, collaborating with the provider to adjust treatment plans accordingly.</li><li>Maintain certifications on all lab equipment to perform Point-of-Care (POC) testing for quick turnaround of CBCs, INRs, urinalysis testing, and blood glucose testing.</li><li>Demonstrate expertise in conducting POC testing, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results for immediate clinical decision-making.</li><li>Uphold quality control measures and adhere to regulatory standards in performing POC testing.</li></ul></li><li>Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting infusion therapy details, vital signs, nursing assessments, and interventions.<ul><li>Ensure adherence to documentation standards and regulatory requirements.</li></ul></li><li>Patient Care:Identifies opportunities to improve patient care based on feedback from staff and customers.<ul><li>Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.</li><li>Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.</li><li>Monitors quality of core process in department.</li></ul></li><li>Technical Competency: Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.<ul><li>Obtains complete history and physical data on patients.</li><li>Reviews patient records.</li><li>Performs a complete physical exam and records findings.</li><li>Establishes presumptive diagnosis.</li><li>Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.</li><li>Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.</li><li>Provides care that is appropriate for specific age groups.</li></ul></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p style=\"font-size:11px;margin:4px 0;\">&nbsp;</p><p><strong>The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><h3 style=\"font-size:14px;margin:6px 0;\"><strong>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</strong></h3><p style=\"font-size:12px;margin:4px 0;\"><strong>Physical Demand Code:</strong> Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping.
